Abstract

This study is a case study on finding out the strategies used for foreign languagereading comprehension by students who are smart in different ways and the relationbetween the reading strategies and the characteristics of the student’s intelligences. It has been employed with the help of the findings of Multiple Intelligence Theory.According to the data of this study, though the students who are smart in differentways use different reading strategies, there are many common strategies used by allof them. Readers who are the participants of this study use ‘cognitive strategies’more than ‘memory strategies’ and ‘compensating strategies’. Students who aresmart in different ways are not affected by the characteristics of their intelligence. The difference in the strategies used by the students are mostly quantitative

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Çoklu Zekâ Kuramında söz edilen yedi zekâ türünden yola çıkılarakfarklı zekâ türleri baskın öğrenicilerin kullandıkları okuma stratejilerini belirlemeamacıyla yapılmış bir durum çalışması niteliğindedir. Çalışmanın sonunda ulaşılan bulgular, farklı zekâları baskın öğrenicilerin okumaeylemi sırasında farklı stratejiler kullanmakla birlikte ortak stratejilerin sayısınında oldukça fazla olduğunu, ‘bellek’ ve ‘telafi edici’ stratejilerden çok ‘bilişsel’ stratejilerin yeğlendiğini, kullanılan stratejilerle zekâ özellikleri arasında anlamlı birilişkinin bulunmadığını, öğreniciler arasındaki farkın daha çok, kullanılan stratejilerin çeşitliliğinden kaynaklandığını göstermektedir
