DESCRIPTION
Journal of Language and Literature Studies: Journal of Language and Literature Studies is an open access, peer-reviewed, international, scientific journal published twice a year in March and October. It is the official publication of the Turkish Language and Literature Association (TDED) and has been in publication since 2010.
Articles submitted to the journal for publication should be in Turkish or English.

PURPOSE - SCOPE
Journal of Language and Literature Studies: Journal of Language and Literature Studies aims to contribute to the sharing of knowledge at national and international level by publishing original and relevant articles in all fields of philology such as language, literature, folklore, culture, translation science as well as language and literature education. The target audience of the journal consists of academics, researchers, professionals, students and related professional and academic institutions and organisations.

EDITORIAL POLICIES AND PUBLICATION PROCESS

Publication Policy
The content of the manuscripts submitted to the journal for publication should be compatible with the purpose and scope of the journal. The priority of the journal is to publish original research articles.

General Principles
Articles that have not been published before or are not currently under evaluation in another journal for publication and approved by each author are accepted for evaluation.
In line with the decision of the Editorial Board, one article per issue is accepted from the articles produced from master's, doctoral and undergraduate dissertations; one article is accepted for each issue of the proceedings presented at national and international symposiums / congresses, provided that it is clearly stated in the footnote.
Only 1 (one) article of the same author in the same publication period is processed, and the article can be published if it successfully passes the referee process.
After the article is submitted to the Journal for publication, none of the authors' names can be deleted from the author list without the written permission of all authors, and a new name cannot be added as an author and the order of authors cannot be changed.

LANGUAGE
The language of the journal is Turkish and English. Only studies prepared in Turkish and English are accepted to the journal.

PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPTS
Unless otherwise stated, all correspondence regarding the submitted manuscripts will be made with the first author. Manuscript submission should be done online and via DergiPark. Manuscripts should be sent by attaching a plagiarism report, an electronic file containing the electronic form of the manuscript written in Microsoft Word 2003 and above versions, and the ‘Copyright Agreement Form’ signed by all authors.
1. Manuscripts should be written in Times New Roman (special fonts can be used, provided that they are partial), 12 pt. font size and 1.5 line spacing.
2. In the article, all headings should be written in bold with only the first letters capitalised. Main headings (main sections, references and appendices) should be written in 12 pt and bold.
3. Sub-headings and sub-headings should be written in 12 pt. and bold; at the end of the sub-headings, a colon should be placed and continued from the same line.
4. The article should include a 150 - 200 word Turkish abstract after the title and before the introduction, a 150 - 250 word English abstract after the Turkish abstract, and a 600 - 800 word English extended abstract. Abstracts should contain at least 5 and at most 8 keywords.
5. If the language of the article is English, the extended abstract should be in Turkish.
6. Submitted articles (including abstracts and bibliography) should not exceed 10,000 words. (Longer articles are published with the decision of the Editorial Board. Contents such as text reproduction etc. should be placed in the Appendix of the article).
7. The name of the author should be immediately below the title, the surname of the author should be written in capital letters, the title, institution (including the name of the faculty and department), city and country name, e-mail address, ORCID and ROR ID (institution identification number) number should be included with ‘*’ footnote.
8. The Turkish Language Institution's Spelling Guide should be followed in articles and abbreviations.
9. One of Timesefras, Munevver, Oktay New Transcription or Timestrans fonts should be used in transliteration text studies. Transcription works submitted with fonts other than these will not be accepted. These fonts will only be used in the text section. In the ‘introduction, review, conclusion, etc.’ sections of the articles, Times New Roman character will be used as specified in Article 1.
10. Only APA system should be used in footnote and bibliography method.
11. All kinds of legal, criminal and scientific responsibility of the studies sent to our journal for publication within the rules belong to the author / authors. It is in no way binding with the journal. The author is deemed to have accepted all the principles contained herein in advance.
12. Authors may be asked to make some corrections on the text in line with the Editorial Board and referee reports.

Tables and Figures
Tables should have a number and title. The table number should be written vertically at the top, just to the left, and the table title should be written in italics, capitalising the first letter of each word. Tables should be placed where they should be in the text. Figures should be prepared for black and white printing. Figure numbers and names should be written centrally just below the figure. Figure number should be written in italics and should end with a full stop. The name of the figure should be written vertically with only the first letter capitalised.

Illustrations
High resolution, print quality scans should be sent as an attachment to the article. Picture nomenclature should follow the rules in figures and charts.

Sources
Quotations should be given in quotation marks; quotations of less than 140 words should be written between the lines, and longer quotations should be written 1.5 cm from the right and left of the line, in block form, with 1.5 line spacing and 1 point smaller.
References to be made in the article should be given immediately after the relevant place, in brackets, in the order of the surname of the author, the year of publication of the work and the page number. The names of the works should be italicised.
Example: (Okay, 2016, p. 142)

In cases where more than one source is to be cited, the works are listed in the same parenthesis, from the oldest dated to the most recent, separated from each other by semicolons.
Example: (Köprülü, 1989 p. 125; Okay, 2016, p. 115)

In references with two authors, "and" is inserted between them. In references with more than two authors, the abbreviation "et al." should be used after the surname of the second author.
Examples: (Andı and Akay 2010, p. 223). (Kaplan, Enginün et al. 1988 p. 217)

If the author's name is mentioned in the relevant sentence, it is sufficient to indicate the date and page in brackets.
Example: (2015, p. 23)

If the author has two works published in the same year, the year of publication is indicated by adding a letter.
Examples: (Ahmet Midhat, 2010a, p. 37), (Ahmet Midhat, 2010b, p. 72)

The works of two authors with the same surname published in the same year are indicated by writing the first letters of their first names.
Examples: (Balcı, F. 2014, p. 83), (Balcı, M. 2014, p. 112)

When referring to an inaccessible publication in the text, this source and the work cited should be indicated as follows:
Example: (as cited in Köprülü, 1924, p. 75; Demirci, 1998, p. 25)

Footnotes Footnotes are used only for compulsory explanations.
The references here should be arranged with the surname of the author, the year of publication of the work and the page number in parentheses.
Example: (Çoruk, 2016, p. 118)

Bibliography: All sources used in the article should be included in the "Bibliography", even if they are related to the subject of the article, documents and artefacts not mentioned in the article should not be included in the bibliography. References should be given at the end of the main text in alphabetical order according to the surnames of the authors (the author's name is taken as the basis for those before the surname law). The names of the works should be written in italics.

a. Books and book-like works
author's surname (lower case), initials (year of publication). title of the book (italicised). city of publication: publishing house.
Example: Okay, M. O. (2005). Westernisation Period Turkish Literature. Istanbul: Dergâh Publications.

If there is a preparer, editor, translator of the work, it is given as follows after the book title:
Author's surname, initials (year of publication). title of the work (italicised).
[preparer] hzl., [editor] ed. or [translator] transl. name and surname, city of publication, publishing house.

Example: Ersoy, M. A. (1991). Safahat. hzl. M. Ertuğrul Düzdağ. Istanbul: İz Publishing.
Stevick, P. (2004). Novel Theory, trans. Sevim Kantarcıoğlu. Ankara: Akçağ Yay. 2nd bs.

The volume of the work is indicated after the title of the work, and the edition is indicated after the publishing house.
Example: Lekesiz, Ö. (2001). New Turkish Literature Story 5. Istanbul: Kaknüs Yay.

b. Articles in periodicals:
Journals: Author's surname, initials (year, month), "title of the article", name of the journal (italicised), volume number, issue number: page range.
Example: Çetişli, İ. (2000). "The Novel of a Generation or a Poet: Mâi ve Siyah". Türk Yurdu. C. XX, S. 153-154, May-June, 318-333.

In newspaper articles, the author's surname, name (year. month. day), "title of the article", name of the newspaper, page number (if any) are given.
In interviews and interviews, the name of the author is given as the person who conducted them.

c. Theses
Author's surname, name, (date), title of the thesis, city: university and institute name:
(unpublished bachelor's/master's/doctoral thesis).

d. Information from the Internet
Author's surname, initials (date of last update). "title of the internet document",
(date of access), internet address.
