Manuscripts submitted for evaluation for publication in the Doğuş University Journal must be prepared in accordance with the rules stated below. Manuscripts with a similarity rate exceeding 15% as determined by plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin and iThenticate, or submissions that do not comply with the rules specified below, will not be considered for review.
1. Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the article template file. The article template file can be downloaded here.
2. For the reference style (APA format), the document titled “Reference Writing Examples” should be consulted. In cases of uncertainty, articles published in the most recent issue of the journal may be reviewed. Manuscripts whose references are not prepared in accordance with the format specified in the “Reference Writing Examples” will not be published. The “Sample Writing Examples” document can be downloaded as a PDF here.
3. Authors must upload their manuscripts to the system as two separate Word files. The first manuscript file must include the authors’ first and last names, institutional affiliations (university, faculty, department, program, etc.), e-mail addresses, and ORCID information. The second manuscript file, which will be sent to the reviewers, must not contain any author information.
4. In the first manuscript file to be uploaded to the system, author information must be entered in the relevant sections; in the second file to be sent to reviewers, these sections must be left blank. The author information in the footer on the first page must be completed in full, including university, faculty/school, department, e-mail address, and ORCID number. The same information must also be fully provided in the “Article Metadata” section on Dergipark and in the Copyright Form. Authors must not alter the formatting of the article template in a way that would make editing difficult or impossible (for example, by inserting page breaks). The article template file can be downloaded here.
5. The Copyright Form, including the information of all authors, must be signed by the corresponding author who submits the manuscript, scanned (in JPG or PDF format), and uploaded to the system together with the manuscript files. The Copyright Form can be downloaded here.
6. Manuscripts submitted to the Doğuş University Journal may be written in Turkish or English. The length of the manuscript must not exceed 20 pages. The electronic copy must be prepared in Microsoft Word using Times New Roman font. Margin settings must be as follows: 5 cm at the top, 4 cm at the bottom, and 4.5 cm on the left and right.
7. The title must first be written in the language of the manuscript, in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, 12-point font, bold, and centered on the page. The title in the second language must be given on the next line after leaving one blank line, again in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, 10-point font, bold, centered, and italicized. For articles derived from a thesis or conference paper, an asterisk (*) must be added to the title, and a footnote must indicate from which thesis or presentation the study was derived.
8. In the language of the manuscript, an abstract of approximately 150–200 words (“Abstract” / “Öz”) must be provided first, followed by a second abstract in the other language. The second abstract must be written in italics. Under both the Turkish and English abstracts, keywords (at least 3 and at most 5 words/phrases) must be provided. The keywords under the second abstract must be in italics. The first letter of each keyword must be capitalized (e.g., Economic Development, Monetary Policy).
9. Authors must include the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) classification number in their manuscripts. The JEL classification number must be provided only under the English abstract. It must not be included under the Turkish abstract.
10. Headings within the text (from the Introduction to the Conclusion) must be numbered using Arabic numerals (e.g., 1., 1.1., 1.1.2.) and aligned to the left. First-level headings must be in 12-point bold font; second-level and subsequent headings must be in 10-point bold font. The first letter of each main word in the headings must be capitalized. A space must be left after the period in heading numbers (Example: 1. Introduction). The “References” heading must not be numbered. One blank line must be left after each heading.
Example:
1. Introduction
2. Literature Review
3. Model and Data Set
3.1. Unit Root Test
3.2. Causality Analysis
3.2.1. Toda–Yamamoto Causality Test
3.2.2. Granger Causality Test
4. Conclusion

11. The main text must be written in 10-point font, single-spaced, and justified. A single blank line must be left after each paragraph, or spacing of 6 pt before and after paragraphs should be selected. Paragraphs must begin left-aligned with no indentation.
12. Footnotes must be written in Times New Roman, 9-point font, and justified.
13. Quotations from other sources that do not exceed three lines (or 40 words) must be given in quotation marks and in italics. Quotations exceeding three lines must be presented as a separate paragraph, indented 1 cm from both the left and right margins, in 9-point font and italics.
14. Tables and figures must be numbered and titled. Table titles must appear above the tables (e.g., Table 1. Title of the Table), and figure titles must appear below the figures (e.g., Figure 1. Title of the Figure). Table and figure titles and captions must be written in 10-point bold font and centered according to the table or figure. Tables and figures must be placed vertically (full-page tables and figures may be placed horizontally). Equations must be centered on the page, and their numbers must be given in parentheses and aligned to the right margin. Care must be taken to ensure that tables and figures do not exceed paragraph margins and are not split across pages. If a table or figure does not exceed one page in length, it must be presented on a single page. To fit tables and figures within page and paragraph margins, the font size within them may be reduced, provided that readability is not compromised.
References/sources provided below tables and figures must follow the APA in-text citation format, placed directly beneath the table or figure, in 9-point font (example: Source: Author/Institution name, publication year: page number). In figures (if applicable), the source must appear above the figure description. The word “Source” must be in bold, while the reference itself must be in regular font (Example: Source: TURKSTAT, 2022).
15. References in the text must be made using the in-text parenthetical citation method. The order inside the parentheses should be: author’s last name(s) (or, for sources without an author, the first three words of the title followed by an ellipsis), publication year, a colon, and page number(s) (example: Lastname, year: page number).
16. All sources cited in the text must be listed in the “References” section in APA format. Sources not cited in the text must not appear in this list. The heading “References” must be used and should not be numbered. References must be single-spaced, with a hanging indent of 1.25 cm. References must be listed alphabetically and formatted according to APA style as indicated in the “Reference Writing Examples.” Complete information must be provided for each reference, including volume and page numbers, place of publication, publisher, and page ranges as applicable. Titles of articles, books, and theses must have only the first letter of the first word capitalized (except for proper nouns), while journal titles must have the first letter of each word capitalized. Titles of journals, books, and theses, as well as journal volume numbers, must be italicized.
17. Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with standard spelling and grammar rules. A space must be left after punctuation marks. This also applies to APA in-text citations (e.g., it should be written as (Gürsoy, 2009: 175), not (Gürsoy, 2009:175)). Periods must be placed after parentheses, not before. Example: References/sources provided below tables and figures must follow the APA in-text citation format, placed directly beneath the table or figure, in 9-point font (example: Source: Author/Institution name, publication year: page number). In figures (if applicable), the source must appear above the figure description. The word “Source” must be in bold, while the reference itself must be in regular font (Example: Source: TURKSTAT, 2022).
18. It is the authors’ responsibility to submit the final version of the manuscript in compliance with writing rules for publication. Manuscripts will not be published until they are presented in accordance with these writing standards.
