Aims of Make of Portrait Paintings

Abstract

Portrait painting is a type of painting that is made with the use of artist-specific techniques, materials and colors, while paying attention to the emotional state and proportions of people. It can be said that the reasons for making portrait painting vary from artist to artist. Knowing the purpose of a portrait painting will help the art viewer understand and analyze the portrait painting. When the portraits of the artists are examined, it is seen that the aims of portraits are categorized within certain frameworks. The purpose of this study is to examine the purpose of making of portrait paintings selected from the field of art. In the study, the portrait and self-portrait picture samples selected with the scanning technique were examined according to their basic features and construction purposes and were categorized according to their objectives. As a result, the portrait pictures examined; it appears to be made for beauty, heritage or permanence, proof of existence, personal reasons or aimlessly, religious descriptions, order, display of wealth, reflection of imagination and criticism. The categories determined by the researcher are important in terms of reinforcing them with portrait picture examples and enabling us to understand the underlying causes of the portraits.

Portre Resimlerinin Yapılma Amaçları

Abstract

Portre resmi, insanın resmedilirken sanatçıya özgü teknik, malzeme ve renk kullanımıyla duygu durumuna ve orantılarına dikkat edilerek yapılan resim türüdür. Portre resminin yapılma nedenlerinin sanatçıdan sanatçıya değiştiğini söylemek mümkün olabilmektedir. Bir portre resminin amacını bilebilmek, sanat izleyicisi için portre resmini anlayıp, çözümlemede yardımcı olacaktır. Sanatçıların portreleri incelendiğinde portrelerin yapılma amaçlarının belli çerçeveler içinde kategorilere ayrıldığı görülmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, sanat alanından seçilen portre resimlerinin yapılış amacının incelenmesidir. Çalışmada tarama tekniği ile seçilen portre ve otoportre resim örnekleri, temel özellikleri ve yapılış amaçları doğrultusunda incelenmiş ve amaçlarına uygun olarak kategorilere ayrılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, incelenen portre resimlerinin; güzellik, miras ya da kalıcılık, varlık kanıtı, kişisel nedenler ya da amaçsızca, dini tasvirler, sipariş, zenginliğin gösterilmesi, hayal gücünün yansıtılması ve eleştiri amaçlarıyla yapıldığı görülmektedir. Araştırmacı tarafından tespit edilen kategoriler portre resim örnekleriyle pekiştirilip portrelerin altında yatan nedenleri anlamamızı sağlaması açısından önemli olmaktadır.
