Abstract

Abstract

Industry 4.0 is a new industrial era in which businesses operating in the manufacturing and service sectors adopt and integrate advanced technologies to achieve sustainability and competitive advantage. Industry 4.0 is an unavoidable revolution in the manufacturing sector, especially for mass production enterprises such as clothing, fashion, and footwear. In order to meet the increasing demands for sustainable textile and apparel products, businesses adopt the latest technological solutions. Today, the apparel industry is facing big changes, from robots that sew and cut fabrics to artificial intelligence algorithms that anticipate style trends. The use of technology that automates, personalizes, and accelerates the production process is an indispensable necessity to stay competitive. Moreover, this imperative becomes critical for apparel companies not only to deliver the best products and services on time but also to maintain long–term sustainability. Therefore, process integration has become an absolute necessity in the context of industry 4.0 for the textile and apparel industry. In this study, a model for the integration of the smart production system is proposed. In apparel businesses adopting industry 4.0, the difficulties arising in the integration of the proposed model are examined and future projections of the process integration are evaluated.
