MÖ II. Binyılda Eminler Höyük ve Karaman Ovası

Öz

Karaman Ovası, Orta Anadolu’yu Akdeniz’e bağlayan bir kavşak noktasında yer almaktadır. Neolitik Çağ’dan itibaren yerleşim izlerine rastlanan ova, MÖ III. ve II. binyıllarda dikkat çekici bir kültürel gelişim sergilemiştir. Söz konusu kültürel gelişimin daha detaylı bir şekilde kavranabilmesi amacıyla ovada 2016-2022 yılları arasında arkeolojik yüzey araştırmaları yürütülmüştür. Bu araştırmaların ilk etabını Karaman Ovası’nın kuzeyinde, Karadağ’ın eteklerinde yer alan Eminler Höyük’te gerçekleştirilen yoğun yüzey araştırmaları oluşturmuştur. Eminler Höyük’te 2016-2019 yılları arasında gerçekleştirilen araştırmalar, höyüğün Erken Tunç Çağı’ndan başlayarak Demir Çağı sonuna kadar kesintisiz bir şekilde iskân edildiğini ortaya koymuştur. Bölgenin anahtar yerleşimlerinden biri olan Eminler Höyük, MÖ II. binyılın farklı evrelerine tarihlenen arkeolojik tabakalar barındırmasıyla dikkati çekmiştir. Bu çalışmada öncelikle Karaman Ovası genel özellikleriyle tanımlanmış ve Eminler Höyük yüzey araştırmaları hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Çalışmanın devamında yüzey araştırmalarından elde edilen çanak çömleklere ilişkin veriler ana hatlarıyla değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın son bölümünde, Karaman Ovası’nda tespit edilen MÖ II. binyıl yerleşimleri kısaca değerlendirilmiş ve Eminler Höyük’ün söz konusu yerleşimler içindeki konumu tartışılmıştır.

Eminler Höyük and Karaman Plain in the 2nd Millennium BC

Abstract

Karaman Plain is located at a crossroad connecting Central Anatolia to the Mediterranean. The plain was occupied since the Neolithic Period, indicated a striking cultural development during the 3rd and 2nd millennium BC. Archaeological surveys aiming to understand this development in a detailed way have been conducted in the plain between 2016-2022. The first stage of the research project was an intensive survey at Eminler Höyük, located on the northern edge of the Karaman Plain at the foot of the Karadağ Mountain. Intensive archaeological surveys held between 2016 and 2019 at Eminler Höyük revealed that the site was continuously occupied from the beginning of the Early Bronze Age to the end of the Iron Age. Eminler Höyük is one of the key sites on the plain, has also received attention because of the significant potential indicating archaeological layers dated to different periods of the 2nd millennium BC. Firstly, general characteristics of the Karaman Plain and Eminler Höyük surveys are briefly defined in this study. The pottery assemblage collected during the surveys is discussed briefly in the following section. The last part of this study included the 2nd millennium BC settlements of the Karaman Plain and a brief discussion about the role of the Eminler Höyük in the settlement hierarchy.
