AI Authorship

The Eurasian Journal of Teacher Education (EJTE) does not recognize Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, as authors. Authorship implies full intellectual responsibility, accountability, and ethical liability for the content of a scholarly work, which cannot be assigned to AI-based systems.

The use of LLMs or other AI tools during the research or manuscript preparation process is not prohibited; however, such use must comply with ethical standards of transparency and accountability. Any use of AI tools that goes beyond language polishing—such as generating text, analyses, interpretations, or substantive content—must be clearly disclosed in the Methods section (or in an appropriate alternative section if a Methods section is not available).

The use of AI tools solely for AI-assisted copy editing does not require disclosure. AI-assisted copy editing refers exclusively to improvements in readability, style, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and tone of human-generated text. These improvements may include wording and formatting changes but do not involve autonomous content creation, data interpretation, or editorial decision-making.

In all cases, human authors bear full responsibility for the final version of the manuscript and must confirm that AI-assisted revisions accurately reflect their original work.

Generative AI Images

The rapid development of generative AI image technologies has introduced unresolved legal, copyright, and research integrity concerns. EJTE adheres strictly to existing copyright laws and best practices in publication ethics.

As a general principle, the use of generative AI–produced images or videos is not permitted in manuscripts submitted to EJTE.

Exceptions may be considered under limited conditions, including:

  • Images or artwork obtained from legally authorized agencies;
  • AI-generated images or videos used in studies that explicitly focus on artificial intelligence, reviewed on a case-by-case basis;
  • Outputs generated by AI tools developed using clearly attributable, verifiable, and scientifically traceable datasets, provided that ethical standards, copyright regulations, and terms of use are fully respected.

All permitted exceptions must be clearly labelled as “AI-generated” within the figure or image description.
