The Aegean Journal of Social Sciences aims to publish periodically in order to convey scientific articles produced by researchers in all branches of social/human sciences to the scientific world and society, to contribute to the accumulation of scientific knowledge, and to enable the discussion and evaluation of new findings and developments.

The scope of the journal consists of original articles in the "research" and "compilation" genres that deal with topics in the fields of social sciences such as German Language and Literature, American Culture and Literature, Archaeology, Geography, Industrial Design, Philosophy, Journalism, Public Relations and Promotion, Economics, English Language and Literature, Business, Women's Studies, Fashion Design, Translation and Interpretation, Psychology, Radio, Television and Cinema, Advertising, Art History, Sociology, History, Basic Islamic Sciences, Tourism Management, Tourist Guidance, Turkish Language and Literature, Turkish Language and Dialects, Turkish World Literatures, Turkish World Social, Economic and Political Relations, Turkish Folklore, Turkish Folk Dances, Turkish Art, Turkish Music, Turkish History, International Relations and their sub-branches.

However, translations and introduction articles on scientific publications that the editorial board deems appropriate (with "non-refereed" status and without assigning a DOI) may be included.
(Archaeological excavation reports, surface survey reports, restoration reports prepared for various institutions, inventory studies that do not include examination and comprehensive scientific evaluation, etc. are not accepted.)

1. The page size of the Ege Journal of Social Sciences is A4. Articles to be sent to the journal must be prepared as MS Word documents in A4 size. A margin of 3.5 cm from the top, 4 cm from the bottom, 3 cm from the left and 2 cm from the right should be left on the page.
(Among the files that can be used during the preparation process is our article template file called “EgeSBD article template”. Authors preparing their work based on this template will accelerate the processes.)

2. The title of the article should be given in Turkish and English (or another foreign language) as seen in our article template.
• Then, there should be an abstract in Turkish and English (or another foreign language). The abstract should be in a format that includes short summaries of each of the main sections of the article such as introduction, method, findings, evaluation, conclusion, discussion and recommendations; it should allow the reader to understand the content of the article and determine its relationship with their own areas of interest. The abstract in the original language of the article should be at least 150 and at most 250 words. Footnotes, tables, photographs, etc. should not be used in these sections, and no references should be made to the article pages.

• The "Abstract" in the foreign language of the article should be longer than the "Abstract" in the original language of the article: This section should be at least 300 and at most 500 words.

• The "Abstract" should be constructed with concise expressions regarding the justification, findings, and results of the article. The main points of the introduction, findings (catalog), discussion/evaluation, and conclusion sections of the article should be reflected in the "Abstract". The weight should be more in favor of the findings and the results. If possible, copy-pasting should not be done from within the article, and it should be written originally.

• There should be five keywords immediately below the "Abstract" and "Abstract" sections. The keywords should not be very general expressions/concepts such as "Turkey", "art", "statistics" and should not consist of long phrases.

3. The footnotes to be given to the author's name(s) should include the author's title, institution information, ORCID ID number and e-mail address.

4. All parts of the text should be in Times New Roman font. Main headings should be 12.5 pt, all uppercase and centered; author's name should be 10.5 pt and right-aligned; Abstract headings and texts and keywords should be 10.5 pt; body (main) texts of the text should be 11 pt and justified; first level subheadings should be 11.5 pt, bold and left-aligned, second level subheadings should be 11 pt, bold and left-aligned. In paragraph settings, paragraph spacing should be "after 6 pt" and line spacing should be "single line spacing". Footnote texts should be 9.5 pt and justified. Authors should not send files with different layouts created with various manual methods.

5. When preparing a text, line indents, paragraph transitions, etc. should never be done by pressing the tab key many times and/or pressing the space button for many and long times! Enter should be used to create paragraph entries and line spacing, and the "indentation settings" of the Word program should be used to create line indents.

6. Footnotes should have automatic and consistent numbering added with the "add footnote" feature in the "references" section of MS Word; they should be given at the bottom of the page and should not be arranged as "endnotes". (Times New Roman and 9.5 pt.)

7. If the article is based on a paper previously presented at a symposium or congress, these issues and the name, location and date of the symposium/congress should be stated with a footnote to be attached to the article title, provided that it has not been published as a full text. Similarly; if the article is a research supported by an institution or the product of a project, the name of the supporting institution and the project number should be stated. If the study is a study produced from a doctoral or master's thesis, this should also be stated by writing the advisor and thesis title information.

8. If the article content includes texts written in an alphabet other than the Latin alphabet, for example, if a special font supporting Cyrillic, Arabic, Greek letters is used, it is important to specify the font in question to the editor and, if possible, to attach the font file to the submission.

9. "REFERENCES" should be included at the end of the article text. The methods and formats of references to be made to sources in the article and the writing formats in the References are shown in the "EgeSBD article template" file.
• The preferred citation style in our journal is APA 6. The methods and formats should be given in the "EgeSBD article template" file; references should be given in parentheses within the text. When multiple references are given in parentheses, a semicolon [;] should be placed between consecutive references.

10. In the references section, care should be taken to ensure that sources that are not mentioned in the article are not listed and that the sources given are actually evaluated in the article.

11. Direct quotes from a source (all directly quoted expressions, sentences, paragraphs) must be written in quotation marks.

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES and PUBLICATION POLICY

1- Ege Social Sciences Journal accepts all studies submitted to the journal for evaluation only through the system provided by DergiPark. Studies submitted by mail, fax, e-mail or other means are not evaluated.

2- Authors are obliged to prepare their studies in accordance with the format announced on the Ege Social Sciences Journal website and submit all requested documents (Copyright Transfer Form, Ethics Committee Approval Document, etc.) to the journal. Author names, institution information, contact addresses and ORCID information must be provided completely and accurately, and in case of any change in this information, the journal authorities must be contacted as soon as possible.

3- Articles submitted for publication are expected to comply with the journal's spelling rules; as well as the spelling, punctuation and general rules of the language in which they are written. All sources used in the studies must be cited completely and accurately, in accordance with the journal's spelling rules.

4- Articles sent to the journal are first examined by the editor and the editorial board within the framework of the criteria in question and after being found appropriate, they are scanned for “plagiarism” with the help of various scanning software [currently iThenticate program]. Excluding the bibliography and references, the similarity rate with other texts should not exceed 20% as a result of the scan performed for the main text of the article, without citing the source.

5- It is expected that the studies sent to the Ege Journal of Social Sciences to be evaluated are original.

6- In addition, it is expected that the articles sent to the journal comply with the "SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION ETHICS GUIDELINE" of the YÖK and the COPE principles.

PROCESS OPERATION:
If the "preliminary evaluation" process is completed positively; the article is sent to two referees in accordance with the "blind refereeing" principle. If the two referees express different opinions, a third referee is asked for an opinion.

Articles can be included in the publication program with at least two “positive reports” from the designated scientific advisors/referees. In case the number of positive and negative referee opinions is equal or there are hesitations, the decisions of the Editor and Editorial Board may determine the outcome. During the evaluation process, the author may be asked to make any necessary changes and corrections in the article.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST DECLARATION:
If the researchers and/or experts invited as referees to evaluate the articles to be published in our journal have any conflict of interest with the author(s) of the study they are asked to evaluate, they must notify the editor or journal editor who receives this as soon as possible.
