Policy on the Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies


Journal of Health Sciences, aims to provide transparency regarding the use of Generative AI. This policy will be updated in line with technological developments.


Authors may use AI tools for literature synthesis, language editing, and readability. However, these tools must be used under human oversight and control.

1. Author Responsibilities & Accountability



Category Mandatory Actions
Privacy Do not upload unpublished data or PII to AI tools. Check the terms of use.
Intellectual Property Ensure no content infringing on IP rights is uploaded to the AI tool.
Verification Verify all AI outputs for accuracy and bias. (Note: AI-generated references can be fabricated; always check primary sources.)
Originality Edit the content to reflect the author's own analysis and voice.

2. Disclosure Requirements


Authors must disclose the use of AI tools upon submission. Place the following statement at the end of the manuscript, before References:



Heading: Declaration on the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process


Example: "During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [Name of the Tool / Service] in order to [Reason]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication."

3. Authorship



❌ AI tools cannot be listed as an author. Authorship implies responsibilities that can only be attributed to humans.

4. Use of AI in Images & Figures



✅ Permitted 🚫 Prohibited


  • Adjustments to brightness, contrast, or color balance (if no info is obscured).
  • Exception: If AI use is part of the research design/methods (e.g., biomedical imaging). This must be described in the Methods section.

  • Creating or altering images using Generative AI.
  • Adding, removing, moving, or obscuring features within an image.
  • Using AI to create graphical abstracts.

*The journal reserves the right to use image forensics tools to detect irregularities.
