Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this study is to investigate the prevalence of Eimeria species in rabbits raised in Ankara and Kırıkkale provinces and to identify oocysts at the species level by looking at their morphological features. For this purpose, 102 feces samples were taken from the rabbits cage and transported to the laboratory under appropriate conditions. The feces samples have been examined by Fuelleborn's flotation technique in terms of the presence of Eimeria spp. oocysts. The samples detected positive in terms of Eimeria spp. oocyst were taken to sterile plastic containers for sporulation and 2.5% potassium dichromate solution was added and maintained for 7 days at 25-30 °C. The Eimeria species were identified from the sporulated samples under the light microscope in the light of the relevant literature. As a result of the study, the rate of Eimeria spp. in the analyzed rabbit feces was 37.3%. As a result of species diagnosis, while the maximum E. perforans oocysts were identified, and E. media, E. magna, E. exigua, E. coecicola, E. intestinalis, E. piriformis-E. flavescens, E. stiedae ve E. irresidua the followed, respectively. As a result, this study is important in terms of being the first study in which eimeria species are determined in rabbits where the raised in the region.
