Usame Demir joined the Mechanical Engineering Department at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University at 2021. He received his BE (2010), MSc (2013) and PhD (2017) from Sakarya University. His doctoral research was in Electromechanic variable valve timing for internal combustion engine modelling using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). He has interest in the following research areas are internal combustion engines, HCCI engine, alternative fuels, combustion modelling using SRM and CFD simulation tools.
Dr Al Qubeissi is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Energy Systems, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department. Also, he is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a member of the Universities Internal Combustion Engine Group (UnICEG), a member of the International Association of Engineers (IAENG) – Society of Mechanical Engineers (ISME), Chartered Engineer, a Community Buddy of the British Science Association, Review Editor in Thermal Science and Energy Systems, and Associate Editor of Alexandria Engineering Journal. Dr Al Qubeissi's latest PhD study was based on the modelling of pre-combustion processes, including multicomponent and blended fuel droplets, conducted at the Sir Harry Ricardo Laboratories & Advanced Engineering Centre, University of Brighton (2012-2015). Prior to that, he conducted PhD work on CFD development of conjugate heat transfer for the rotating discs-cavities of gas turbine engines at the Thermo-Fluid Mechanics Research Centre, Sussex University (2007 - 2012) in which Dr Al Qubeissi developed a new CFD approach (coded in FORTRAN) for the high-speed CHT system.
Dr Al Qubeissi's main relevant research experience includes the development of models for processes preceding/exceeding the onset of combustion (atomization, sprays, heating, evaporation and ignition of multi-component and blended fuels) and a broader range of thermal engineering applications (e.g. IC engines, PV/T systems, Battery thermal management, Thermal fatigue, Gas-turbine engines). His research efforts have been disseminated via dozens of research outputs in internationally refereed journal articles, conference proceedings and monographs. Also, Dr Al Qubeissi has been involved in many project supervision, including more than 120 UG/PG student projects and 6 PhD/DSc projects.
