Yeni queer sinema: Öncesi ve sonrası

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, 1990’lı yıllarda özellikle ABD’de bağımsız sinemanın bir parçası olarak ortaya çıkan ve Britanya’da da birkaç yönetmenin filmleriyle karşılığını bulan ‘Yeni Queer Sinema’ akımı ile söz konusu akımın öncesindeki dönemlerde sinemanın sunduğu eşcinsellik temsilleri üzerinde durulmaktadır. Çalışmada, queer kuram ve bu kuramdan yola çıkılarak geliştirilen queer film çalışmalarına ilişkin bir çerçeve sunulmakta ve ‘Yeni Queer Sinema’nın nasıl ortaya çıktığı, hangi sinemacıların bu kategori içinde değerlendirildikleri ve bu sinemacıların filmlerinin biçim ve içerikle ilgili özellikleri gibi konular ele alınmaktadır. Çalışma ayrıca, queer sinemanın öncülerinden de söz etmekte ve ‘Yeni Queer Sinema’nın yaklaşık yirmi yıl sonrasındaki görünümünü, yani bugünkü durumunu analiz etmektedir

New queer cinema: Before and after

Abstract

This work aims to focus on ‘New Queer Cinema’, a movement which emerged as part of the independent filmmaking in the USA of the 1990s, as well as represented by the films of few British directors. This work, which offers a brief history on the representation of homosexuality in Western cinema, also dwells on queer theory and queer film studies. After dealing with the directors of the ‘New Queer Cinema’ and their films, the work focuses on the aftermath of the movement
