Exploring the Roles and Reflections of Women Employees in Print Media: A Study on Capital Magazine

Abstract

This study explores the roles and representations of women employees in print media, focusing on a content and discourse analysis on Capital Magazine. The research aims to highlight how women in the business have been portrayed in the magazine over time. For this purpose, the 31-year archive of Capital Magazine (between 1993 and 2024) was analyzed. The findings indicate that the terminology used to portray women employees and managers has evolved alongside changing societal attitudes toward women. However, despite these shifts, the results also reveals that a gender gap remains prevalent in the business world. It has been determined that the perspective towards working women has not changed significantly over the years and that the problems continue despite various measures being taken to eliminate the obstacles they face. However, the published news emphasizes that women managers inspire other women by implementing successful practices in both the national and international business world.
