Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
Publication Ethics
The publication processes of Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences are based on the unbiased production, development and sharing of knowledge through scientific method. Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences adheres to high research and publication ethics. If unethical behaviour is suspected, the Editorial Board will act in accordance with the relevant international publication ethics rules.
All stakeholders (publisher, editor, author, referee and reader) who ensure the realisation of scientific production must comply with ethical principles for the correct progress of science. In this context, Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences adopts the COPE publication ethics (Committee on Publication Ethics) and open access policy.
When a violation of Scientific Research and Publication Ethics is detected in an article submitted to Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences, the institution where the author of the article works is officially notified of this situation and the article is rejected. Our journal has the right to request output files related to the analysis results from the authors according to the feedback given by the editor and/or referees.

Authors are obliged to specify the approval of the ethics committee in the method section and upload the PDF of the approval to the system.
Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences has adopted the principle of full compliance with national and international ethical rules and principles within the scope of protection of human and animal rights. In the articles evaluated in Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences, Ethics Committee Approval is required for the researches in question in accordance with the following articles:
- All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques,
- Use of humans and animals (including materials/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
- Clinical trials on humans,
- Research on animals,
- Retrospective studies in accordance with the law on the protection of personal data.

Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher
Gaziantep University, which is the publisher of Gaziantep University Journal of Sports Sciences, is a non-profit public educational institution that pursues public interest. The publisher, one of the stakeholders involved in a scientific study, should also act within the scope of all these ethical principles.
The publisher is obliged to use its communication power without any individual interest and to guide its target audience correctly.
It protects the ownership and copyright of every work published within its organisation and undertakes the task of archiving every published product.
People should not hesitate to contact the publisher when they encounter an unethical situation.

Authors submitting publications to Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences must comply with the following rules:
1. Submitted articles must be the original work of the author(s).
2. Submitted articles must not have been published before.
3. It is unethical to submit an article to more than one journal for publication simultaneously.
4. Any possible conflict of interest should be clearly stated.
5. Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences should be informed about the data sources used in the development of the article.
6. If any errors are found by the author(s) after the manuscript has been submitted for publication, the author(s) should immediately notify the Editor(s) of the corrections made.
7. Ethics Committee Approval must be obtained for all studies requiring Ethics Committee Decision involving human or animal subjects, and this approval must be stated and documented in the article.

The referees of Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences must comply with the following rules:
1. They should evaluate all manuscripts fairly, based on the content of the manuscript, without regard to the author's gender, race, ethnicity, religion, citizenship or political values.
2. Reviews should be objective and constructive, avoiding personal comments that are hostile or inflammatory, intimidating or condescending.
3. They provide guidance to help improve the quality of the manuscript to be published and scrutinise the work rigorously.
4. They have the specialised competence required to make an accurate assessment and evaluate the manuscript within the time allocated to them.
5. If they observe a conflict of interest during the review process, they should notify the Editor.
6. Keep all information about the manuscript confidential.
7. They may not use the information obtained during the review process to their own advantage or to the advantage of others or other organisations, or to disadvantage or discredit others.
8. They should inform the Editor if there is any information that may cause the rejection of the publication of the article.

The editors of Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences must comply with the following rules:
1. Evaluate all manuscripts fairly, based on the content of the manuscript, without regard to the author's gender, race, ethnicity, religion, citizenship or political values.
2. Keep information about articles confidential.
3. If they observe any conflicts of interest regarding the manuscript, they should disclose them.
4. The Editorial Board is responsible for the decision to publish the article submitted for publication based on the referee evaluations, the editorial board policies of the journal, and taking legal measures against plagiarism, defamation and copyright infringement.
5. In case of a complaint of ethical violation, to implement the necessary procedures by adhering to the policies and procedures of the journal. To give the authors an opportunity to respond to the complaint, regardless of who the work belongs to, and not to refrain from applying the necessary sanctions.
6. To reject the incoming study if it is not suitable for the purpose and scope of the journal.

Notifying the Editor of the Situation that Does Not Comply with Ethical Principles
If the editors or referees of Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences encounter any unethical behaviour regarding the authors or any unethical situation regarding a published article in the evaluation process or even in early view, it should be reported to mbicer@gantep.edu.tr.

Similarity
Authors should upload the plagiarism report when uploading the study. Plagiarism is the most common and serious ethical problem affecting scientific writings. Gaziantep University Journal of Sport Sciences endeavours to take the necessary measures to avoid any form of plagiarism. In addition, articles are scanned with a plagiarism software (iTenthicate, Turnitin) to detect overlapping and similar text samples. Articles with a similarity score of more than 20% are not accepted for publication.
