Some Physical Properties of Potato Tubers

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the physical properties of some potato varieties. As the material Jelly, Milva and Sante varieties from the patented varieties in the country were used. Physical properties as geometric mean diameter, tuber weight, sphericity, surface area, volume, bulk and tuber densities, porosity and static coefficient of friction of potato tubers for each variety were investigated. Geometric mean diameter, sphericity, surface area and tuber volume were found as 58.8 mm; 76.0%, 113.2 cm2 and 121.2 cm3 for Jelly variety; 57.9 mm; 80.2%, 109.1 cm2 and 114.0 cm3 for Milva variety; 54.8 mm; 84.1%; 98.1 cm2 and 97.7 cm3 for Sante variety, respectively. Tuber size dimension and tuber weight was higher in Jelly variety than those the other potato varieties
