INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
The Journal of Security Sciences is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal published biannually in May and November. It adheres to open access principles based on independence, impartiality, and double anonymous peer review processes.
The Journal of Security Sciences accepts both Turkish and English articles. It welcomes submissions in the fields of security and strategy, as well as articles related to Social, Humanities, and Administrative Sciences including International Relations, Political Science, Economic and Administrative Sciences, History, Crime Studies, Law, Public Relations, Forensic Sciences, Communication, Psychology, Criminology, Anthropology, Sociology, Public Diplomacy, Intelligence, Public Administration, Criminalistics, Management and Organization, and Quantitative Methods.
The Editorial Board of the Journal of Security Sciences has set a maximum similarity index of 20% for submitted works. Initially, submissions are screened for similarity. If a work exceeds the 20% threshold, it may be returned to the author for revision or rejected. Tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate are preferred for these assessments, excluding references and quoted materials from the similarity count. Authors are expected to ensure the originality of their submissions and properly cite any referenced works.
For original research articles derived from postgraduate or doctoral studies, authors should explicitly acknowledge this in the acknowledgments and disclosure section of their paper. The scientific content responsibility of each article entirely lies with the author(s).
Authors should not submit the same work to multiple journals simultaneously. They are also responsible for the originality and verification of sources. Plagiarism, in any form, is unethical and unacceptable. Authors reserve the right to withdraw their manuscript until a publication decision has been made, provided they inform the editorial board. Regardless of translation, the intellectual, scientific, and legal responsibilities regarding language, style, content, and ethics of published works belong to the authors.
All scientific content responsibilities of the works to be published in the journal lie with the authors. Submissions are accepted only through https://dergipark.org.tr in "Microsoft Word" format, accompanied by "Curriculum Vitae," "Declaration of No Need for Ethical Committee Approval," and "Copyright Transfer Form. However, any research involving the collection of data from participants using qualitative or quantitative approaches, such as surveys, interviews, focus group studies, observations, experiments, and interview techniques, as well as the experimental or other scientific use of humans and animals (including materials/data), and retrospective studies, requires ethical committee approval. Information regarding the approval for studies requiring ethical approval should be included in the article in accordance with the Law on the Protection of Personal Data. " Full details of all authors, including affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID IDs, must be accurately entered into the Dergipark system. If a study requires ethical committee approval, it must be uploaded to the system along with the manuscript. No additions or changes to the author list are allowed post-submission.
Submissions to the Journal of Security Sciences are initially reviewed by the Chief Editor within the framework of the publication policies. The Chief Editor possesses the authority to return articles, without directing them for peer review, if they are deemed non-compliant with the journal's publication standards. Manuscripts that fail to adhere to writing conventions or are found lacking in language quality are sent back to the authors for correction. It is recommended that authors have their English-language works language-reviewed by a specialist before submission.
For articles with multiple authors, all correspondence will be conducted with the corresponding author. Articles requiring revisions as a result of peer review are electronically communicated to the authors through the Dergipark system, with the corresponding author bearing the responsibility for follow-up. Corrections suggested by reviewers (major revisions within 15 days, minor revisions within 10 days) must be completed and re-uploaded by the corresponding author through the Dergipark system. Failure to upload the revised work within the stipulated timeframe, without valid reasons, may lead to direct rejection by the Chief Editor.
Manuscripts that meet the criteria for publication and peer review are sent to at least two or more reviewers for evaluation. Authors may suggest up to three potential reviewers with expertise relevant to their manuscript. Works deemed suitable for review by at least two reviewers are then considered by the Journal Editorial Board for publication. The publication sequence of accepted works is based on their date of submission and relevance to the theme of the upcoming issue. If a manuscript does not align with the theme of the forthcoming issue, it may be queued for publication in a subsequent issue. The final decision on whether a manuscript will be published, and in which issue it will appear, rests with the Editorial Board of the Journal. The presence of a single negative peer review report is sufficient grounds for the non-publication of a manuscript.
