Journal of General Medicine contains original scientific publications. All published articles, except for editorial publication, are subject to double-blind peer review.
Purpose and Scope
The aim of the journal is to contribute to science by publishing high quality publications with scientific background. For this purpose, original research articles, referrals, case reports and letters to the editor are published in all fields of basic or past clinical experience in health sciences. Journal of General Medicine is an independent, double blind-reviewed, open-access and online journal that aims to publish articles in in medicine and all its field. Articles should disclose original data that has not been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Articles deemed suitable for the General Medicine Journal submission rules and the scope of the journal are sent for scientific evaluation to at least two referees who are experts in their fields. The members of the Editorial Board of the Journal of General Medicine, who discuss its eligibility, then consider the reviewers' comments on each submission. The final decision for all submitted manuscripts belongs to the Editor-in-Chief. The Editorial Board of the Journal of General Medicine undertake to comply with the criteria of the International Council of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Article Submissions
Submitted articles must be in accordance with the purpose and scope of the journal. Manuscripts that are original, unpublished and not in the process of evaluation in another journal, whose content and submission have been approved by each author, are accepted for evaluation.
Audience
Target audience; professionals in all fields of health, specialists, researchers, specialty and doctoral students, as well as students related to this field. It aims to contribute to the dissemination of continuous professional development and research culture.
Charge Policy
The publication of articles and the execution of article processes in the journal are free of charge. No processing fee or submission fee is charged for articles submitted to the journal or accepted for publication. The Journal of General Medicine does not accept sponsorship and advertising due to its publication policies. All expenses of the Journal of General Medicine are covered by the Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Dean's Office.
Copyright
The copyrights of the studies published in the Journal of General Medicine belong to their authors. The authors allow the intellectual study they sent to be published by the Journal of General Medicine under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.
Originality of Articles
The Journal of General Medicine does not accept studies previously published elsewhere. However, sometimes articles published in a foreign language can be processed.

Thank you for your interest in Genel Tıp Journal (GTD). GTD is an international, non-profit, Open Access (OA) journal, publishing articles on a broad range of topics within the field.
WRITTEN LANGUAGE IS ENGLISH. OUR JOURNAL; ORIGINAL ARTICLE, INVITED REVIEW, LETTER TO THE EDITOR AND CASE REPORT ON THE FIELD OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCES ARE ACCEPTED.
Please read the complete Author Guidelines carefully prior to submission, including the section on copyright. To ensure fast peer review and publication, manuscripts that do not adhere to the following instructions will be returned to the corresponding author for technical revision before undergoing peer review.
This Journal recommends that authors follow the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals formulated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). https://www.icmje.org/icmje-recommendations.pdf The submitting author and corresponding author are responsible for providing valid and attended email address, and should check the email regularly, in order not to delay the editorial procedure.
MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Note that submission implies that the content has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere except as a brief abstract in the proceedings of a scientific meeting or symposium. Once you have prepared your submission in accordance with the Guidelines, manuscripts should be submitted online at https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/journal/3567/submission/step/manuscript/new
The account of the corresponding author of the study should be used in the applications. All correspondence regarding the application is forwarded to the responsible author via e-mail sent through the journal system.
WRITING RULES
A-TITLE PAGE
1.A separate title page should be submitted with all submissions and this page should include (The title should be short and informative, containing major keywords related to the content. The title should not contain abbreviations): Turkish and English title, short title, name-surname, qualifications (academic degree), affiliations, affiliation addresses, e-mail, ROR ID, and *Orcid ID of all authors .
2.The name, address, email address and telephone number of the corresponding author should be clearly indicated separately on the title page.
3.The journal operates a double-blind peer review policy, so please ensure that identifying information is only included in the title page file, and that the separate 'Main Document' file is anonymized.
4.When uploading the article file, make sure that it does not contain any elements (SUCH AS AUTHOR NAME AND INSTITUTION) that would decipher the identity of the author due to the double-blind peer-review process.

1.Original papers should be divided into sections as follows: TR and ENG abstract, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion.
2.Submit the manuscript as one Microsoft Word file; using 12 point font (Times New Roman); 1.5 spacing; and employs italics, rather than underlining. ARTICLE FORMAT SHOULD BE WORD. DOC. DOCX.
3.Pages should be numbered but do not use any other automated features (such as endnotes, headers or footers), or any mechanism to track changes to various drafts of a manuscript.
4.Numbers one to ten should be written as words in the text, unless used as a unit of measurement; all numbers should be written in digits in tables and figures.
5.All numbers which start sentences should be written in words, not digits.
6.Bold type-face should be used for headings of sections and sub-sections within the paper.
7.Do not use tabs or indents within the text of the paper.
8.Writing should be clear, simple and direct.
9.All tables are placed at the end of the paper, after the references.
10.ABBREVIATIONS USED IN THE TABLE SHOULD BE EXPLAINED UNDER THE TABLE.
11.TABLE AND FIGURE HEADINGS MUST BE ADDED TO THE END OF RESOURCES AS TABLE OR FIGURE LEGEND.
12.Photographs and illustrations are submitted and as separate JPG, JPEG or TIFF files (resolution of at least 300 dpi).
13.3-5 MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION OBTAINED AS A RESULT OF THIS STUDY SHOULD BE STATED IN ITEMS.
14.AUTHORS' CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STUDY MUST BE ADDED TO THE MAIN TEXT AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE.

C-ABSTRACT & KEYWORDS
1.GTD requires structured abstracts for all original articles.
2.The following headlines should be used where appropriate: Objective, Material and Method, Results, and Conclusion.
3.Please make sure the abstract provides an answer to the aim of the study, and that the total number of words does not exceed 300.
4.A list of from 4-8 key-words or terms from Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) https://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html suitable for indexing terms should be typed at the bottom of the abstract page.
D-REFERENCES
1.Articles should be prepared according to the GENERAL MEDICAL JOURNAL Citation System.
2.References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text.
3.Identify references in the text by Arabic numerals in parenthesis as follows: "as shown by Kara (5)":... if two authors; "Yilmaz & Ulusoy (6)";... if more than two authors; "Turk-Dagi et al. (7)".
4.When citing two or more sources at once, write a number for each separated by a comma e.g. (1, 2) or (6, 12)
5.When citing more than two sources which are numbered consecutively, use a hyphen instead of a comma e.g. (3-5)
6.If you need to cite a particular work more than once, you can use the same reference number for each citation Numbers should be in brackets and placed after punctuation marks such as full stops or commas, but before colons and semi-colons.

8.A reference gives the full details of the brief citation you have referred to in text and is shown at the end of your essay.

We recommend that the open researcher and contributor ID (ORCID) of all authors to be provided. For an ORCID, authors should register at the ORCID web site available from https://orcid.org/register Registration is free to every researcher in the world.
REVISION
Authors should mark the changes they made in the main text in color while submitting the article revision files. The responses to the referees should be specified in a separate Word file.

AUTHOR'S GUIDE
AUTHORS' DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
AUTHORSHIP AND CONTRIBUTION
Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the concept, design, execution or interpretation of the work. All significant contributors should be listed as co-authors. If there are minor contributors to the work, such as language editing, these should be noted in the acknowledgments section. The corresponding author should ensure that all co-authors have seen and approved the final manuscript and agree to submit it for publication. Authors are expected to carefully review the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript, and to provide the definitive list of authors at the time of original submission. The editor will only consider adding, deleting or rearranging authors after the article is submitted in exceptional cases. All authors must agree to any such addition, deletion or rearrangement. Authors take joint responsibility for the study.
AUTHOR CHANGE REQUESTS
Adding, deleting or rearranging the names of the authors in the list of authors can only be done before the article is accepted and only if approved by the journal Editor.
If such a change is requested, the Editor requests from the responsible author (a) the reason for the change in the list of authors and (b) written confirmation (e-mail) from all authors that they agree to add it. The editor will only consider adding, deleting or rearranging authors after the article has been accepted, in exceptional circumstances.
ARTİCLE WRITING
Authors of original research papers should address the topic in an authentic way and with an objective discussion. The article should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to repeat the work. Fraudulent or knowingly false statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
ORIGINALITY
The author must provide assurance that the article is original, has not been previously published elsewhere, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, in another language.
ORIGINAL SOURCE USE AND CITATION
Authors should ensure that they are writing completely original works and that if they have used the work or words of others, it is appropriately cited. Privately obtained information, such as in conversations, correspondence or discussions with third parties, should not be used without the express and written permission of the source.
DATA ACCESS AND RETENTION
Authors may be asked to provide research data supporting their articles for editorial review and/or comply with the journal's open data requirements. Authors should be prepared, where possible, to provide public access to such data and to retain such data for a reasonable period of time after publication.
MULTI AND SIMULTANEOUS BROADCASTING
An author should not publish an article containing the same research in more than one journal. Submitting the same article to more than one journal at the same time is unethical behavior. An author should not submit a previously published article for consideration in another journal, unless it has been published as an abstract.
PUBLICATION OF STUDIES BASED ON SURVEY AND INTERVIEW
For research that requires ethics committee permission and conducted in all disciplines (ethics committee approval should be obtained, this approval should be stated and documented in the article. For research that requires ethics committee approval, information about the permission (board name, date and issue number) is also provided in the method section of the article. In one of the first/last pages, in case reports, information that the informed consent form was signed should be included in the article.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Any financial or other interests that may conflict with one's work, significantly impair objectivity, or provide an unfair advantage to any person or entity. All financial support resources and the role of sponsors in the study should be explained during the conduct of the research and the preparation of the article. If there is no source of funding, this should also be stated. Examples of potential conflicts of interest that need to be disclosed include consultations, hiring, grants. Potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed at the earliest possible stage.
ERROR REPORTING
When an author notices a material error or inaccuracy in his published work, he should notify the journal immediately. It is also the author's obligation to cooperate to retract or correct the article if deemed necessary by the editor. If the editor or publisher learns from a third party that a published article contains errors, it is the author's obligation to cooperate with the editor, including notifying the editor.
IMAGE INTEGRITY
It is not acceptable to enhance, darken, move, remove or add a particular feature to an image. Authors must abide by the policy for graphic images enforced by the journal.
Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
Principles of Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics can be defined as a self-regulation mechanism that insists on honesty on behalf of authors, reviewers and publishers to establish higher standards of editorial handling. Ethical standards for publication exist to ensure high-quality scientific publications, public confidence in scientific findings, and respect for people's opinions.
• Honest researchers do not plagiarize.
• They do not cite sources incorrectly.
• They do not hide objections that they cannot refute.
• They do not distort opposing views.
• They do not destroy or hide data.
Peer-reviewed studies are studies that support and implement the scientific method. At this point, it is of great importance that all parties involved in the publication process (authors, readers and researchers, publisher, referees and editors) comply with ethical principles. The Journal of General Medicine adheres to national and international standards in research and publication ethics. It complies with Press Law, Intellectual and Artistic Works Law and Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive. The General Medical Journal has adopted the International Ethical Publishing Principles published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA) and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). It also undertakes to comply with the Decisions of the Türkiye Editors' Workshop.

Republish
Republishing is the publication of the same article or substantially similar articles in more than one journal. The editor returns this type of article without review. After that, the editor may impose an embargo on the author attempting to republish for a certain period of time, and explain this situation to the public in the journal in which the author has previously published (perhaps as a simultaneous announcement with the editor of the journal that published the previous article), or apply all of these measures together.
Simultaneous submission of the same study to more than one journal
Authors cannot submit the same article to more than one journal at the same time. The editor reserves the right to consult the other editor(s) receiving the article if s/he learns of possible simultaneous submission. In addition, the editor may return the article without review or reject it without considering the reviews, or take this decision by discussing it with the other relevant editor(s) and may decide not to accept article submissions from the authors for a certain period of time. S/he can also write to the authors' employers or implement all of these measures together.
Checking to Prevent Plagiarism
Plagiarism is presenting the ideas, methods, data, practices, writings, figures or works of others as their own work, in whole or in part, without attribution in accordance with scientific rules.
The Journal of General Medicine scans all submitted articles for plagiarism. The studies submitted for review are checked for plagiarism using Turnitin & Ithenticate software. The similarity rate is expected to be less than 20%. The main measure of similarity is that the author complies with the citation and citation rules. Even though the similarity rate seems as 1%, plagiarism may still be in question if the citation and citation are not duly made. In this respect, reference and citation rules should be known and carefully applied by the author.
Plagiarism, duplication, false authorship/denied authorship, research/data fabrication, article slicing, slicing, copyright infringement and concealment of conflict of interest are considered unethical behaviors. All articles that do not comply with accepted ethical standards are removed from the publication. This includes articles with possible irregularities and inconsistencies detected after publication.
Forgery
Forgery means to produce data that is not based on research, to edit or change the presented or published work on the basis of unrealistic data, to report or publish them, to make a research that has not been done appear as if it has been done.
It also means to falsify the research records and obtained data, to present the methods, devices and materials not used in the research as if they were used, to evaluate the data that are not suitable for the research hypothesis, to tamper with data and/or results in order to fit relevant theories or assumptions, and to falsify or shape research results in line with the interests of sponsoring individuals and organizations.
Protection of Participants' Personal Data
The Journal of General Medicine requires that all research involving personal or sensitive data or material relating to human participants that is not legally available to the public is subject to formal ethical review.
Handling with Allegations of Research Abuse
The Journal of General Medicine adheres to COPE's Ethics Toolkit for a Successful Editorial. Editors of the Journal of General Medicine; will take action to prevent the publication of articles in which plagiarism, citation manipulation, data tampering, data fabrication, and other research misconduct occur. In no event will the editors of the Journal of General Medicine knowingly allow such abuse to occur. If the editors of the Journal of General Medicine become aware of any allegations of research misconduct related to an article published in their journal, they will follow COPE's guidelines regarding the allegations.
Ethical Violation Notices
When readers notice an important error or mistake in an article published in the Journal of General Medicine, or have any complaints about editorial content (plagiarism, duplicate articles, etc.), they can send an e-mail to generaltip@selcuk.edu.tr. We welcome applications as it will provide an opportunity for us to improve, and we respond quickly and constructively.
Correction, Withdrawal, Expression of Concern
Editors may consider issuing a correction if minor errors are detected in the published article that do not affect the findings, comments, and conclusions. Editors should consider retracting the article in case of major errors/violations that invalidate the findings and conclusions. If there is a possibility of misuse of research or publication by the authors; If there is evidence that the findings are unreliable and that the authors' institutions did not investigate the incident, or if the potential investigation seems unfair or inconclusive, editors should consider issuing a statement of concern. COPE and ICJME guidelines are taken into account with regard to correction, withdrawal or expression of concern.
Publication of Studies Based on Survey and Interview
The Journal of General Medicine adopts the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics(COPE) "Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers" in order to establish ethical assurance in scientific periodicals. In this context, the following points should be followed in the studies submitted to the journal:
1) For research conducted in all branches of science that requires ethics committee approval (ethics committee approval should be obtained, this approval should be stated and documented in the article.
2) In research that requires ethics committee permission, information about the permission (name of the committee, date and number) in the method section, and also on one of the first/last pages of the article; In case reports, information about signing the informed consent form should be included in the article.
Special Issue Publishing Policy
A special issue can be published in our journal once a year upon the request of the Editorial Board. Articles sent for inclusion in a special issue are first subjected to editorial review. Then it is examined in terms of compliance with the writing rules of the journal and similarity is scanned to prevent plagiarism. After these stages, it is taken into the peer review process in which the double-blind model is used.
Editorial Confidentiality Obligation
The editors of the Journal of General Medicine treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents; this means that they will not disclose information about an article to anyone without the permission of the authors. During the article review process, the following people can access the articles: Editors, Reviewers, Editorial Board Members. The only situation in which details about a manuscript may be passed on to a third party without the consent of the authors is that if the editor suspects serious research misconduct.
Allegations-Suspects of Scientific Misconduct
Scientific misconduct has different definitions. We address these issues on a case-by-case basis, while following the guidance established by the major editorial ethics institutions. If the editor suspects an ethical violation or if there is an alleged violation, they are obliged to take action. This task covers both published and unpublished articles. The editor should not simply reject articles that raise concerns about potential misconduct. Ethically, s/he is obliged to follow the alleged lawsuits. The editor should follow the COPE flowcharts where appropriate. Editors should first seek a response from anyone suspected of misconduct. If they are not satisfied with the answer, they should ask the relevant employers or institution to investigate. The editor should use all reasonable efforts to ensure that an appropriate investigation into the alleged misconduct is carried out; if this does not happen, the editor should make all reasonable attempts to persist in finding a solution to the problem. This is an arduous but important task.
The Journal of General Medicine adheres to COPE's Ethics Toolkit for a Successful Editorial. Editors of the Journal of General Medicine; will take action to prevent the publication of articles in which plagiarism, citation manipulation, data tampering, data fabrication, and other research misconduct occur. In no event will the Journal of General Medicine or its editors knowingly allow such misuse to occur. If the editors of the Journal of General Medicine become aware of any allegations of research misconduct related to an article published in their journal, they will follow COPE's guidelines regarding the allegations.
Reviewers should notify the Editor when they suspect research or publication misconduct. The editor is responsible for carrying out the necessary actions by following the COPE recommendations.

Complaint Procedure
This procedure applies to complaints about content, procedures, or policies that are the responsibility of the Journal of General Medicine or our editorial staff. Complaints can provide an opportunity and incentive for improvement, and we aim to respond quickly, courteously and constructively.
The complaint must relate to the content, procedures or policies that are the responsibility of the Journal of General Medicine or our editorial staff. Complaints should be sent directly to geneltip@selcuk.edu.tr and will be treated confidentially. The editor immediately responds to complaints. The editor follows the procedure outlined in the COPE flowchart regarding complaints.
Complaints are reviewed by the relevant member of the editorial team and if they cannot be resolved, the following processes are followed:
• If this initial response is deemed inadequate, the complainant may request that their complaint be forwarded to a more senior member of the journal.
• Complaints can be forwarded to the editor-in-chief if the complainant is not satisfied.

COPE publishes a code of practice for editors of scientific journals. This will facilitate the resolution of disputes with editors, journals and publishers, but only after the journal's own complaints procedures are exhausted.
Appeal Process
We welcome serious objections to reviews by editors and reviewers. If you think we rejected your article because we misunderstood the scientific content, please send an objection message to our editorial team at geneltip@selcuk.edu.tr. Do not try to submit a revised version of your article at this stage. If, after reading your objection letter, we understand that your objection is justified, we may invite you to submit a revised version of your article. Thus, your work is sent back to the external referee process. Please include as much detail as possible in the appeal letter. Finally, we can only consider one objection per article, so please take the time and effort to write the letter in detail to make your objection clear - you stand a chance, so use it well. We have found that prolonged negotiation over rejected articles is often unsatisfactory for both authors and editors, so we do not process multiple appeals for the same work.
Conflicts of Interest
A conflict of interest arises when professional judgment regarding a primary interest may be affected by a secondary interest (such as financial gain or personal competition). We believe that in order to make the best decision on how to handle an article, we need to know the competing interests of the authors and that if we publish the article, the readers should know them too.
Conflicts of Interest is any financial or other interest that may conflict with one's work, significantly impair objectivity, or provide an unfair advantage to any person or entity. All financial support resources and the role of sponsors in the study should be explained during the conduct of the research and the preparation of the article. If there is no source of funding, this should also be stated. Examples of potential conflicts of interest that need to be disclosed include consultations, hiring, grants. Potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed at the earliest possible stage.
The Journal of General Medicine has a set process for handling submissions from editors, staff, or editorial board members to ensure unbiased review. Such posts are primarily directed to other journals. If this is not possible, the post's owner will be suspended from the journal. These submissions are reviewed through a double-blind process.
The editor should not be involved in decisions about articles written by him or his family members. In addition, such work should be subject to all the usual procedures of the journal. The editor should follow the ICMJE guidelines regarding disclosure of potential conflicts of interest by authors and reviewers.
Principles of Research Ethics
The Journal of General Medicine observes the highest standards in research ethics and adopts the international research ethics principles defined below. The compliance of the articles with the ethical rules is the responsibility of the authors.
• Principles of integrity, quality and transparency should be ensured in designing the research, reviewing the design and conducting the research.
• The research team and participants should be fully informed about the purpose of the research, its methods and possible uses; necessities and risks, if any, of participating in the research.
• Confidentiality of information provided by research participants and confidentiality of respondents should be ensured. Research should be designed in a way that preserves the autonomy and dignity of the participants.
• Research participants should take part in the research voluntarily and should not be under any coercion.
• Harm to the participants should be avoided. The research should be planned in such a way that it does not put the participants at risk.
• Be clear about research independence; If there is a conflict of interest, it should be stated.
• In experimental studies with human subjects, written informed consent must be obtained from participants who decide to participate in the research. The consent of the legal guardian of children and custodians or those with a confirmed mental illness must be obtained.
• If the study will be carried out in any institution or organization, approval must be obtained from that institution or organization.
• In studies with a human element, it should be stated in the “methods” section that “informed consent” was obtained from the participants and ethics committee approval was obtained from the institution where the study was conducted.
All expenses of the Journal of General Medicine are covered by the Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Dean's Office. The publication of articles and the execution of article processes in the journal are free of charge. No processing fee or submission fee is charged for articles submitted to the journal or accepted for publication. The Journal of General Medicine does not accept sponsorship and advertising due to its publication policies.
