This process consists of 3 stages: Article Initial Evaluation Process, Article Evaluation Process and Article Publication Process.
Article Initial Evaluation Process
1. The article (without author names in accordance with the template) is submitted to the DergiPark system by the author.
2. Manuscript Title, Copyright Agreement Part B (signed), Turnitin Evaluation Report and optionally the Referee Suggestion Form are uploaded to the DergiPark system together with the article. You can find these forms* in the Required Forms section on the main page of the journal.
*Article Template: It should be submitted in Word format in accordance with the template, without author names and their informations.
Manuscript Title: It is a separate title page containing the corresponding author's title, all author names, institutions and their contact informations (e-mail, telephone number and fax number).
Copyright Agreement Part B: It must be signed by the corresponding author and, if any, other authors.
Referee Suggestion Form: It can be uploaded optionally.
Turnitin Evaluation Report: It is the similarity rate report taken from the Turnitin Program by the author.
Manuscript Correction Report: It is the report prepared by the author by marking all the corrections made in the article with red color, if the referee decides to correct the article after the referee evaluation process is completed (major/minor).
Response to Reviewers: It is a report that responds to the referees' corrections, criticisms and suggestions, if the referee decides to correct the article after the referee evaluation process is completed (major/minor).
3. Articles and other required forms are reviewed by technical editors in terms of technical requirements such as writing format and language. For articles that do not provide the technical requirements, corrections are requested from the authors. If the authors do not respond to the correction request within the time allowed, the article is deemed to have been withdrawn. Articles submitted in any language other than English will be rejected.
4. The article's similarity rate* is checked by the technical editors by comparing it with the Turnitin Evaluation Report uploaded by the author. The similarity rate should not be more than 20%. If an error is detected in the Turnitin Evaluation Report (more than 20% etc.), the author is notified and requested to reduce the rate and renew the report. If no response is received to the correction request within the time allowed, the article is deemed to have been withdrawn.
*The similarity of the articles submitted to our journal is determined with the Turnitin Program. A similarity report is created by comparing it with Turnitin from the national and international database. In this report, regardless of the text in quotation marks, the percentage of written text content is similar or very similar to the existing text. In accordance with our plagiarism policy, the editorial board of Gazi University Journal of Science Part B applies the following rules;
- Articles with a similarity rate of more than 20% are rejected. In such cases, the author(s) are asked to review and submit the article once again.
- Only articles with a similarity rate of less than 20% are included in the double-blind peer review process.
- All authors who submit an article to Gazi University Journal of Science Part B are deemed to have accepted the above-mentioned rules.
5. The aim and scope of the article is reviewed by the editor-in-chief/editor in terms of the aim and scope of the journal. Articles that are not deemed appropriate for the aim and scope of the journal are rejected.
Article Evaluation Process
In the evaluation process, a double-blind peer review process takes place.
1. The Associate Editor is assigned to the article by the chief editor/editor.
2. Referees are invited to the article by the editor-in-chief/editor. At least two (2) referees are appointed from the Editorial Board and Associate Editors, Scientific Advisory Board and other expert groups. At least one (1) of the referees cannot be appointed from the institution where the author is located. In the double-blind peer review process, the identities of the referees and authors are kept confidential.
3. Conclusion of the article can be rejection, correction/revision or acceptance. The article evaluation process is completed within a period of 10 weeks.
- At least two (2) referees must give acceptance approval for the article in order to proceed to the editing and publication processes in the article evaluation process. The accepted article is prepared for publication by going through the editing phase.
- The article is rejected in line with the majority of the referee's opinions being negative and the article process is ended.
- In case that the majority of the referee's opinions cannot form a certain decision to accept or reject the article, a new referee is invited to the article by the chief editor/editor, and a decision of acceptance or rejection is provided by providing the majority.
- If a correction/revision decision is made for the article by the referees in line with the revisions/suggestions stated in the reports (major/minor), the author is requested to make the corrections within one month at the latest. All corrections made by the author in the article should be marked in red and submitted as an Manuscript Correction Report. Response to Reviewers should be prepared as a response to the corrections, criticisms and suggestions of the referees. In addition to these 2 reports, the final version of the article prepared for publication after making all the corrections should be uploaded in Word format to the DergiPark system. If the corrections made in the article are presented to the reviewers again and the acceptance is approved, the article is prepared for publication by going to the editing stage.
4. The articles that are approved for acceptance are evaluated by the Editorial Board for the last time and transferred to the Publication Editorial Board.
Article Publication Process
1. If there is a later or overlooked defect or correction/revision in the article, the author is requested to make corrections/revisions. If no response is received from the authors within the time allowed, the article is deemed to have been withdrawn.
2. The articles are sorted, numbered and made ready for publication by the technical editors according to the submission dates of the articles to the journal.
3. According to the publication period of the journal, the articles are published on the last day of the period and the publication process is completed.
Mistakes in publication (spelling mistakes, etc.) noticed by the authors can be corrected after a maximum of 5 days following the publication date of the articles. For this reason, authors are required to contact the journal within a maximum of 5 days.
