Abstract

In this article, the arguments of solipsism will be assessed in terms of metaphysical and epistemological ground. Within this frame, firstly the historical background of solipsism and its relation with skepticism will be provided, Rene Descartes and George Berkeley’s argument which makes possible to deepen the theoretical perspective of solipsism will be given as well. After, George Edward Moore ve Hilary Putnam’s ideas that can be used against solipsism will be discussed and finally solipsism will be subject to critical evaluation. The main argument of this article, solipsism cannot be justified neither metaphysical point of view nor epistemological point of view

Metafizik ve Epistemolojik Solipsizm Üzerine Eleştirel Bir İnceleme

Abstract

Bu makalede solipsizmin argümanlarının metafizik ve epistemolojik düzlemlerde geçerli olup olmadığı değerlendirilecektir. Bu çerçevede çalışmada ilk olarak solipsizmin şüphecilikle ilişkisi bağlamında tarihsel arka planı verilecek, Rene Descartes ve George Berkeley’in solipsizmin teorik açıdan derinleşmesini mümkün kılan savlarına da yer verilecektir. Ardından George Edward Moore ve Hilary Putnam’ın solipsizme karşı kullanılabilecek argümanları ele alınacak ve son olarak solipsizm eleştirel bir değerlendirmeye tabi tutulacaktır. Makalenin temel argümanı solipsizmin ne metafizik ne de epistemolojik açıdan gerekçelendirilebileceğidir.
