Mediastinal Tümör Sonrası Sternotomi İyileşmesinde Sternal Serklaj Bandının Etkisi

Abstract

Mediastinal kitleler, genellikle cerrahi müdahale gerektiren zorlu klinik durumlardır. Bu olgu sunumunda, mediastinal kitle nedeniyle sternotomi yapılan ve sağ akciğer alt lob wedge rezeksiyonu gerçekleştirilen 72 yaşındaki bir kadın hasta ele alınmıştır. Postoperatif süreç, sternotomi sonrası nadir ancak ciddi bir komplikasyon olan sternum dehissansı ile karmaşık hâle gelmiş; bu durumun yönetiminde negatif basınçlı yara tedavi sistemi ile birlikte sternal serklaj bandı uygulanmıştır. Bu tedavi kombinasyonu, yara iyileşmesini hızlandırmış ve sternum stabilizasyonunu sağlamıştır. Bu yazı, postoperatif komplikasyonları önlemek için uygun sabitleme teknikleri ve yara yönetiminin önemini vurgulamaktadır.

The Effect of Sternal Cerclage Band on Sternotomy Healing After Mediastinal Tumor Surgery

Abstract

Mediastinal masses are challenging clinical conditions that often require surgical intervention. This case report presents a 72-year-old woman patient who underwent sternotomy and wedge resection of the right lung lower lobe due to a mediastinal mass. The postoperative course became complicated by sternal dehiscence, a rare but serious complication following sternotomy; to manage this condition, a negative pressure wound therapy system was applied in conjunction with a sternal cerclage band. This combination of treatments accelerated wound healing and ensured sternal stabilization. This report highlights the importance of appropriate fixation techniques and wound management in preventing postoperative complications.
