Repository Policy
The Journal of İçtimaiyat adopts a policy that allows authors the freedom to store their articles in any institution or repository of their choice, without imposing any embargo on all submitted, accepted or published articles. All versions of the articles are also stored as a process file in the DergiPark system. The version of the article accepted for publication is published on the journal's web page as open access.
Special Issue Policy
The editors and the editorial board of the journal may publish one special issue per year, pursuant to their discretion. Interested parties may submit their proposals via e-mail to the journal for special issues, along with an introduction to the relevant scientific event. The editors and editorial board shall evaluate the proposals and ideas and, if accepted, may issue a call for papers for the special issue.
The criteria for special issues are outlined below.
Special Issue Theme
Special issues of İçtimaiyat are composed of a collection of articles focused on a current and specific research theme in line with the scope and aims of the journal. The goal of the special issues is to gather different ideas, research, and experiences in a specific issue to contribute to academic writing.
The Journal of İçtimaiyat may publish special issues, at the discretion of the editorial board, either in response to calls for papers or based on requests from researchers or organizers of scientific events such as symposia or conferences. In this context, the editorial board of İçtimaiyat welcomes special issue proposals from relevant parties. Papers presented at conferences or symposia will be reviewed by members of the editorial board and associate editors of İçtimaiyat and the decision will be made depending on whether they will be published as part of a special issue or not.
In addition, the Journal of İçtimaiyat may issue a call for papers for a special issue consisting of research articles related to an important and current topic, at the discretion of the editorial board. This special issue will be made up of 8-10 related research articles, including an introduction and a conclusion article.
The main criteria for evaluating special issue proposals are:
• The significance and up-to-dateness of the topic or approach
• The novelty it will add to the relevant literature
• Its compatibility with the journal's publication policy and scope.
Special Issue Article Format
The submission process for articles in the special issue will be conducted through the dergipark platform. The special issue should be planned to include approximately 20 articles, half of which should be in English and half in Turkish. However, the editorial board may adjust the number of articles published and the distribution of languages, if deemed necessary, as long as they announce it in advance. Articles should be prepared in accordance with the İçtimaiyat template and writing rules, similar to regular issues. Additionally, the editor of the special issue may determine the maximum and minimum number of pages for articles.
Special Issue Article Process: (submission, review, and revision)
Articles accepted for the special issue will go through the peer-review process led by the chief editor or guest editor(s) of İçtimaiyat journal. The editor of the special issue is responsible for ensuring that the articles are in line with the theme and scope of the special issue, that they are submitted on time, and that the peer-review process is carried out according to the recommendations of the reviewers. The article evaluation process is the same as for regular issues. In this process, the field editors of the İçtimaiyat journal may also be assigned as assistants to the special issue editor.
Special Issue Fee Policy
The wage policy of İçtimaiyat magazine also applies to special issues.
Fee Policy
Since 2017, İçtimaiyat has been carrying out editorial, peer review and secretariat processes on a voluntary basis. To meet the increasing costs of publication processes and to sustain our scientific quality, our journal has decided to collect “Article Processing Charge” (APC) from authors/authors as of November 1, 2024. This decision was taken to cover the costs of international indexing, layout, editorial processes and other publication expenses of our journal.
The Article Processing Charge is charged before the article is sent to the referee process after preliminary evaluation, regardless of whether the article is accepted or rejected. The fee is not refunded for rejected articles. The remuneration process is organized in accordance with the Interuniversity Board (ÜAK) Associate Professorship Criteria.
In addition, in order to support our researchers from low-income countries and graduate students who are not working in any public/private sector, a 30% discount will be provided to them if they submit the relevant documents. This practice is in line with our journal's mission to support our researchers in all economic conditions.
Our new fee policy will be valid for manuscripts whose editorial processes will start as of November 1, 2024. You can contact us for detailed information or for questions about the application process. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Based on the decision made by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) on March 7, 2019, stating that “Journals (Predatory/Dubious Journals) demanding fees or additional fees from authors for publication after article acceptance cannot be used in the declaration for associate professorship applications due to the conflict of interest involved in this relationship”, the fee must be deposited into the journal’s account when the article is uploaded to the system, regardless of acceptance or rejection conditions.
All processes are charged at 80 USD. (Note: It can be sent in Turkish lira at the exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey on the submission date). Referees are not paid.
Researchers who deposit the fee to the specified account should send their receipts to ictimaiyatdergi@gmail.com. e-mail account.
