Plagiarism Policy

The International Journal of Kurdish Studies (IJOKS) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing plagiarism, duplicate publication, and other forms of research misconduct.

All submitted manuscripts are screened for similarity using a recognized plagiarism detection system during the editorial evaluation process. The similarity report is reviewed by the Editorial Office to identify potential cases of plagiarism, excessive similarity, inappropriate citation practices, and duplicate publication.

As a general guideline, manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 15%, excluding references and properly quoted material, may be returned to authors for revision or may be rejected at the discretion of the Editors. The similarity index is not the sole criterion for editorial decisions; the context of similarities, originality of the research, citation practices, and academic contribution of the manuscript are also taken into consideration.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts are original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism or unethical publication practices. All sources, ideas, data, and previously published materials must be appropriately acknowledged.

IJOKS follows the Core Practices and ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in addressing allegations of plagiarism and research misconduct. Cases involving plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, inappropriate citation practices, or other forms of unethical behavior are investigated carefully and handled according to internationally recognized ethical standards.

If plagiarism or another ethical violation is identified before publication, the manuscript may be rejected or returned to the authors for correction. If an ethical violation is identified after publication, IJOKS may publish a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction notice depending on the severity of the case.

Retracted articles will remain available in the journal archive to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record; however, they will be clearly marked as retracted, and the reason for retraction will be publicly disclosed.
