Müstakil Yaşamlar: Müstakil Villalarda Gündelik Yaşam ve Mekân

Abstract

Bu çalışma, müstakil villada yaşayan kişilerin mekân seçimi ve deneyimlerini fenomenolojik yaklaşımla incelemektedir. Çalışmada müstakil villası olan kişilerin konut seçimi ve yaşam biçimi dinamiklerine odaklanılmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, müstakil villa tipi konutta yaşayan bireylerin gündelik yaşam pratiklerini simgesel sermaye çerçevesinden ortaya koymaktır. Ayrıca toplumdaki müstakil yaşam algısının da müstakil villası olan kişilerin evlerini algılama biçimini nasıl etkilediği üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu noktada müstakil villası olanların mekân algısı, seçimi, beğenisi ve gündelik yaşam pratikleri araştırılmıştır. Çalışma, nitel araştırma yönteminde olup fenomenolojik yaklaşım kullanılmıştır. Yarı yapılandırılmış soru formu aracılığıyla amaçlı örneklem tekniği ile on sekiz kişiyle görüşmeler gerçekleştirilerek veriler toplanmıştır. Görüşmelerden elde edilen veriler kodlama ve temaların keşfedilmesiyle çözümlenmiştir. Bulgular dört tema altında sınıflandırılmıştır. Bunlar; müstakil villalarda kültür-anlam ve duygu, gündelik yaşam ve alışkanlık, sermayenin görünürlüğü ve müstakil yaşamın bilinmeyen yüzüdür. Bu temalar müstakil villada yaşayanların deneyimleri çerçevesinde evin niteliği, yaşam biçimi ve sermaye biçimleri arasındaki ilişkiyi göstermektedir. Sonuç olarak müstakil yaşamın üst sınıfın erişimindeki yalıtılmış bir yaşam biçimi olarak mekânsal ve toplumsal ayrışmayı yanında getirdiği görülmüştür. Bu çalışma müstakil yaşam tipolojisine ilişkin bir bakış açısı sunarak konut tipi ve yaşam biçimi dinamiklerine ilişkin katkı sunmaktadır.

Detached Lives: Daily Life and Use of Space in Detached Villas

Abstract

This study examines the space selection and experiences of individuals living in detached villas through a phenomenological approach. The study focuses on the housing choices and lifestyle dynamics of individuals living in detached villas. The aim of this research is to reveal the daily life practices of individuals living in detached villa-type residences within the framework of symbolic capital. Additionally, the study focused on how the perception of independent living in society affects the way individuals with detached villas perceive their homes. At this point, the perception of space, choices, preferences, and daily life practices of those with detached villas have been examined. The study employs a qualitative research method and utilizes a phenomenological approach. Through a semi-structured questionnaire and purposive sampling technique, data was collected by conducting interviews with eighteen individuals. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed through coding and theme discovery. The findings have been classified under four themes. These are the culture-meaning and emotion, daily life and habits, visibility of capital, and the unknown face of independent living in detached villas. These themes illustrate the relationship between the nature of the house, lifestyle, and forms of capital within the experiences of those living in detached villas. As a result, it has been observed that independent living, as an isolated lifestyle accessible to the upper class, brings about spatial and social segregation. This study offers a perspective on the typology of independent living, contributing to the dynamics of housing types and lifestyles.
