Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Core Principles for Authors
Authorship and Responsibility:
AI tools must never be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and content of their manuscripts. The use of AI does not remove scientific or ethical responsibility. Using AI to create fake authors or misrepresent identities is strictly prohibited.
Transparency and Disclosure:
Any use of AI during research or writing must be clearly disclosed within the manuscript. The name, version, and purpose of each AI tool should be specified in the “Methods” or “Acknowledgments” section.
AI Policies for Editors
Confidentiality:
Editors must not upload unpublished manuscripts, files, images, or related materials to AI platforms. Protecting confidentiality and intellectual property is essential.
Use of AI in the Review Process:
AI tools may only be used with explicit approval from the journal management, for limited tasks such as initial screening or reviewer selection. Authors must be informed of such use.
Handling Suspicious Cases:
If there is uncertainty regarding AI use, editors should communicate with authors and request supporting evidence when necessary. More complex cases must be forwarded to journal management.
Assessment of Author Disclosures:
Editors are expected to carefully examine authors’ AI usage statements and request clarification when needed, ensuring compliance with journal policies.
Monitoring Policy Developments:
Editors should stay informed about advances in AI technology and updates to the journal’s AI policies.
AI Policies for Reviewers
Detection of AI Use:
Reviewers are encouraged to alert editors if they suspect undisclosed AI use, relying only on objective evaluation criteria.
Confidentiality:
Reviewers must not upload any unpublished manuscripts or related materials to AI platforms under any circumstances.
Review Ethics:
Assessments of AI use must remain impartial and in accordance with journal guidelines. Any feedback should be constructive and policy-aligned.
Permitted Uses of AI
-Creating conceptual diagrams or explanatory visuals
-Enhancing data visualizations
-Developing symbolic or illustrative images to clarify complex concepts
Prohibited or Restricted Uses of AI
-Generating substantial sections of the manuscript (e.g., abstract, introduction, literature review)
-Producing or interpreting research results using AI
-Creating fabricated or unverifiable references
-Using AI to develop core arguments, theoretical contributions, or the main thesis
Consequences of Policy Violations
Failure to disclose AI use or misuse of AI tools may lead to rejection during peer review. Post-publication violations may result in corrections or retractions. Repeated or serious infractions may cause future submissions to be declined.
