The Journal of Iranian Studies

Please note that starting from September 4, 2026, the Journal of Iranian Studies will only accept article submissions for the Special Issue titled "Qajar Iran: History, Politics, Society, and Culture". Submissions made after this deadline for the regular December issue will be immediately returned without peer review.

Articles that do not comply with the journal's writing rules and format requirements will be rejected without evaluation. For author guideline, you can visit the Writing Rules section on the main page of the journal. The deadline for article submission is October 1.

Journal of Iranian Studies is an international peer-reviewed academic journal published twice a year, in June and December. The journal aims to promote and analyse Iran from an objective perspective at national and international level through scholarly studies on Iran in Turkish and English. Its aim is to publish research in various disciplines to enable closer scientific and academic scrutiny of Iran.

Since our journal adopts the principles of the open access policy, it provides immediate open access to its content and no fee is charged for articles to be submitted to our journal. The manuscripts are screened for originality through a plagiarism programme. After the manuscripts are reviewed by the editorial board, they are evaluated by two referees who are experts in the field (double blind refereeing), and if deemed necessary, by a third referee and published with the final approval of the editorial board.

In line with the decision made by the journal’s editorial board, the Journal of Iranian Studies has decided to publish a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 articles starting from the June 2025 issue. Once all processes for the submitted and accepted articles are completed, they will be assigned to an issue and scheduled for publication.
