THE EFFECTS OF TOURIST PERCEPTIONS ON BEHAVIORAL INTENTIONS: GULF OF EDREMİT SAMPLE

Öz

The aim of this study is to measure the effect of perceived risk and perceived value on tourists’ behavioral intentions. The study consists of five sections. In the first section, under the title of Introduction, the problem of research, the purpose, importance and limitations of research and the definitions of the variables were introduced. In the second section, the variables of the research were broadly explained. In the third section, the process and the method of research were introduced. The fourth part consists of the analyses results. In the fifth and also the last part of the study, the results were evaluated and various suggestions were made to several communities those concerned. The data of the research were collected by using survey method on domestic tourists who visited the Gulf of Edremit in Balıkesir province. During the research, 439 people who were determined with convenience sampling method were interviewed. As a result of the analysis it was revealed that perceived value, as tourist perceptions, have positive, and perceived risk has negative effects on behavioral intention. The results also demonstrated that emotional value, functional value, and economical value dimensions of perceived value variable have significant and positive effects on behavioral intentions. However, the results showed that social value dimension of perceived value has significant and negative effect on behavioral intentions. According to results, the six dimensions of perceived risk variable have significant and negative effects on behavioral intention as expected.
