The Journal of Educational Technology and Online Learning (JETOL) is dedicated to publishing research in the fields of educational technology and online learning, with a particular focus on the integration and impact of technology, especially artificial intelligence, in educational settings. JETOL serves as a platform for academics, practitioners, and policymakers to explore and share insights on the integration and impact of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, in educational settings, with a strong focus on online learning.
JETOL aims to advance the understanding and application of educational technologies by publishing original research that addresses current and emerging trends in online learning, distance education, and open learning environments. The journal seeks to foster scholarly dialogue on how digital tools and platforms, especially within online learning contexts, can enhance learning experiences and outcomes across diverse educational settings.
The scope of JETOL includes empirical studies employing qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods, as well as theoretical and review articles that contribute to the development of knowledge in educational technology and online learning. We particularly encourage submissions that examine the use of artificial intelligence in online learning, offering critical analyses and proposing evidence-based strategies.
JETOL welcomes contributions that explore the pedagogical, institutional, and policy-related aspects of technology-enhanced learning, with a specific emphasis on artificial intelligence and online learning, aiming to provide actionable insights for educators, administrators, and researchers worldwide. By promoting rigorous research and informed debate, JETOL seeks to contribute to the ongoing evolution of the educational technology and online learning fields.
All submitted manuscripts must be prepared in strict accordance with the 7th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA 7; see http://www.apastyle.org/ or owl.purdue.edu. Although there is no limit for word count in JETOL, it is recommended that the submitted manuscripts should not exceed 7000 words excluding references and appendices. Book reviews should comprise minimum of 1000 words.
All manuscripts must be submitted online through the JETOL online system. All authors must register to the DergiPark manuscript submission system before submitting a manuscript. The template will assist you in formatting your paper. Please, insert the text keeping the format and styles. The parts of the paper (title, abstract, keywords, sections, text, etc.) are already defined on the style sheet.

JETOL ensures that all submitted manuscripts comply with both national and international ethical regulations and adhere to the universal principles of academic professionalism. Plagiarism Policy: JETOL has a strict policy against plagiarism. All submissions are screened using iThenticate or Turnitin. Besides, every manuscript uploaded to the system is automatically checked for plagiarism using the intihal.net platform. Manuscripts found to contain significant plagiarism will be rejected, and the authors’ institutions may be notified. If plagiarism is detected after publication, JETOL will issue a correction and notify the relevant parties.
Data Storage and Sharing: Authors must retain their research data and materials for at least five years after publication and be prepared to provide them to other researchers or editors upon request. All data must be anonymized to protect participant confidentiality before sharing.
Protection of Participants’ Rights and Interests: Authors must ensure the confidentiality of information obtained from research participants. Participation in research must be voluntary, with participants allowed to withdraw at any time. For research involving vulnerable populations, ethical approval must be obtained from an appropriate ethics committee. The rights of participants, as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UNICEF Convention on the Rights of the Child, must be protected at all times.
Research Involving Vulnerable Populations: For studies involving vulnerable populations such as children, authors must obtain ethics committee approval and informed consent from legal representatives. Research must comply with ethical guidelines, including the World Medical Association’s Ethical Principles (Declaration of Helsinki) for human subjects and ARRIVE guidelines for animal studies.
Rules for Requesting an Erratum: If an author discovers a significant error or mistake in their published work, they must promptly inform the journal editor or publisher. The author must collaborate with the editor to correct or retract the article if necessary. If the editor or publisher learns of an error from a third party, the author must cooperate in addressing the issue, including providing evidence if requested.
JETOL does not charge any fee for article publishing processes.
