Abstract
The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between the family climate, parental attachments and the level of self-confidence in university students. The study group consisted of a total of 377 students attending 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes of different faculties of Inonu University. The gender distribution of study group was 243 (64.5%) female and 134 (35.5%) male. The data was collected by using “Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory”, “Family Assessment Scale"(ADÖ), “parental attachments” (ABBÖ) and "Personal Information Form". The latter was developed by the researchers. In the data analysis step; parental attachment styles, family structure, and self-esteem scores were examined using the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient technique. Multiple regression analysis was used to examine the relationship between level of self-confidence and demographic variables, family assessment, and parent-child attachment. It was observed that the level of father education included in the demographic variables, family assessment and the parental attachments style predict level of self-confidence significantly.
