Article Review Process

The reviewing and publication process of our Journal of International Relations and Political Science Studies is as follow:
• Similarity Check: All submissions to our journal are initially subjected to a similarity scan using the Quetext program. Our journal does not accept submissions with a similarity rate of more than 15%. Submissions exceeding this ratio are either returned by the editorial board's decision or sent back to the author for reducing the similarity ratio.
• Editor Assignment and Formal Review: After the similarity scan, the process for the submissions begins with the editor assignment made via the DergiPark system. The appointed editor reviews the work formally and sends it back to the authors along with notes if there is a need for correction.
• Formal Corrections and Field Editor Evaluation: After the authors complete the initial corrections, the work is re-examined formally. If necessary adjustments have been made, the work is sent to the field editors who are experts on the subject.
• Field Editor Corrections and Referee Assignment: If field editors see a need for editing in the work, they request revisions from the authors. After the corrections are made, referee assignments are made by the field editor and the editorial board. Our journal uses a double-blind peer review system.
• Referee Evaluation: The referee's evaluation results in "acceptance," "minor revision," "major revision," and "rejection." This process typically takes about 30 days.
• Results of Referee Evaluation: Two rejection responses mean that the paper is rejected. In the case of one rejection and one minor/major revision, the paper is evaluated by another referee. If two minor/major revisions are received, the paper is sent back to the author for the necessary corrections. In case of two rejections or one rejection - one major revision, the field editor and the editorial board make a decision about the paper.
Our journal's referee evaluation process involves evaluating articles based on various criteria. These criteria include originality, method, compliance with ethical rules, consistent presentation of findings and conclusions, and literature analysis.
Below are the factors referees take into account when evaluating articles:
1. Introduction and Literature: Referees evaluate the presentation of the problem and objectives in the study, the importance of the subject, the scope and currency of the literature related to the subject, the originality of the study, and the consistency between the title, abstract, and article content.
2. Method: Referees examine the appropriateness of the method used, the selection and features of the research sample, information on validity and reliability, and the data collection and analysis process.
3. Findings: Referees evaluate the presentation of the obtained findings, whether the analysis methods are appropriate to the purpose of the paper, the consistency between the research objectives and the obtained findings, the proper use of necessary tables, figures, and visuals, and the conceptual evaluation of the tests used.
4. Evaluation and Discussion: Referees examine the discussion of the topic based on the findings, conformity to research questions and hypotheses, and issues related to generalizability and applicability.
5. Conclusion and Recommendations: Referees examine the study's contribution to the literature and recommendations for future studies and practices in the field.
6. Style and Expression: Referees evaluate whether the work's title covers the content, whether Turkish is used according to the rules (note: in English submissions this would refer to the usage of English), and whether references are given in accordance with APA 7 rules.
7. General Evaluation: Lastly, referees examine the overall originality of the work, and its contribution to the literature and field practices.
These evaluation criteria ensure that referees assess each article objectively and fairly and help us maintain the academic standards and quality of our journal.
After the referee evaluation stage;
• Publication Acceptance Process: After the necessary corrections are made and two acceptance responses are received, articles are accepted for publication.
• Language Editing and Layout: Articles accepted for publication are reviewed by the language editor before going to layout. If there is a need for correction, they are sent back to the authors. After the corrections, the articles proceed to the layout phase.
• Final Reading and Publication: After the layout is completed, the assistant editor does the final reading and confirms that the article is ready for publication. The process then moves on to the publication editor, who publishes all ready articles through the DergiPark system according to the journal's publication period.
This process is carefully carried out to preserve the academic standards and quality of our journal
