JOMAT is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and takes all necessary measures to prevent plagiarism and unethical publishing practices.
All submitted manuscripts are screened using reliable plagiarism detection software (e.g., iThenticate, Turnitin, or similar tools) prior to peer review. Reference lists, quotations, and commonly used phrases may be excluded from similarity reports where appropriate.
Similarity reports are not evaluated solely based on numerical thresholds. Instead, they are assessed contextually by the editorial team, taking into account the nature, source, and extent of overlapping text.
The following considerations guide the evaluation process:
- Whether the similarity arises from properly cited sources,
- Whether the overlap involves standard methodological descriptions or commonly used terminology,
- Whether there is evidence of unattributed copying, excessive reuse, or potential plagiarism.
Manuscripts identified as containing plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or unethical text reuse may be rejected at any stage of the review process. In cases where issues are minor and correctable, authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts accordingly.
The final decision regarding plagiarism and ethical compliance rests with the handling editor, in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics and relevant COPE guidelines.
