Aims

  • •The Journal of Protected Areas Research (JoPAR) is an international, interdisciplinary, and scientific online journal that accepts original research articles and review articles addressing all scientific aspects of protected NATURAL and CULTURAL values and areas in Türkiye and around the world.
  • •The JoPAR is the first scientific e-journal in Türkiye  to publish online content related to protected natural and cultural areas.
  • ·   In this context, JoPAR addresses topics that encompass all components related to protected natural and cultural areas—including their conceptual and theoretical framework, legal status, planning, design, and project development, implementation, management, as well as scientific, artistic, ecological, social, cultural, economic, political, philosophical, tourism and recreation, and technological aspects, among others. It serves as a platform for researchers, decision-makers, managers, practitioners, NGOs, politicians, and other relevant stakeholders to share scientific knowledge, best practices, and innovative approaches.
  • ·   The JoPAR journal aims to protect and preserve the natural and cultural environment, ensure sustainability, and build a future where people live in harmony with nature. It is expected that the articles published will focus on nature and environmental conservation and contribute relevant information that sparks general interest among the broader conservation community.

Mission

  • •Publish and share an international, scientific, interdisciplinary, high-quality, and original e-journal,
  • •Develop solutions to current challenges related to nature and environmental conservation and protected areas at the global, regional, and local levels,
  • •To promote cooperation and the exchange of information among all relevant stakeholders, including scientists, practitioners, NGOs, and citizens,
  • •To increase and enhance informed awareness regarding protected areas, nature and environmental conservation, natural and cultural heritage values, and the science and practices of conservation,
  • •To build a body of knowledge for protected and conserved areas, promote best practices, provide relevant stakeholders with access to current research, and serve as a guide,
  • •To promote, support, and organize scientific (such as symposia, conferences, and workshops), cultural, and educational events on topics such as nature and environmental conservation, protected areas, biodiversity, and ecosystems.

Scope

  • JoPAR is an international, interdisciplinary, and indexed scientific e-journal. The journal operates under a continuous publication model, in which accepted articles are published online without waiting for an issue to be completed. (Publishing Period: Continuous Publication)
  • The language of the journal is English.
  • JoPAR values and encourages multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scientific research.
  • JoPAR employs a double-blind, peer-reviewed process. All articles are evaluated by internal reviewers (Editors and Editorial Board Members) for preliminary assessment and by external reviewers (the International Editorial Advisory Board and subject matter experts) for content.
  • JoPAR’s publication policy is based on the principles and standards of quality, scientific rigor, technical accuracy, ethics, and transparency.
  • The journal does not charge any submission or publication fees.
  • JoPAR publishes “original research and review articles” written in English on multifaceted, interdisciplinary theoretical and practical topics related to protected areas research. Additionally, a limited number of invited review articles, letters to the editor, etc., may be published if deemed appropriate by the JoPAR Editor.
  • JoPAR strongly adheres to the principles of transparency and best practices in scientific publishing as defined by DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals).
  • All works published in JoPAR comply with the provisions of the “YÖK Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics” and the relevant regulations and ethical principles published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Starting in 2020, Ethics Committee approval is mandatory for articles to be published, and  https://publicationethics.org/node/39386
  • JoPAR is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
  • The Turnitin similarity rate in JoPAR is less than 18%.
  • A “DOI number” is assigned to every article published in JoPAR.
  • If deemed appropriate by the JoPAR Editorial Board, “Special Issues” are published once a year on topics such as symposia, conferences, workshops, and specific thematic areas. The same research article publication processes and policies applicable to JoPAR also apply to articles in “Special Issues.” Experienced Subject Editors or Editorial Editors from the JoPAR Editorial Board are appointed as Editors for Special Issues. Journal Policy:

· JoPAR's editorial policy is based on quality and transparency.

· After a manuscript was submitted to the system, the evaluation process are carried out in three stages and at least eight weeks. 1. the pre-check stage (max. two weeks), 2. the evaluation and decision stage (max. three weeks), and 3. the publishing stage (max. three weeks). The authors can only withdraw articles during the pre-check and evaluation/decision stages. Papers cannot be withdrawn at the publishing stage (if the layout is done and the DOI number is obtained).

· Journal of Protected Areas Research (JoPAR), as an open-access journal, is included in the "Directory of Open Access Journals", known by the abbreviation DOAJ.  JoPAR has adopted the policy of providing open access with its publication. Open access has beneficial results for humanity by increasing the global exchange of knowledge. In this regard, our magazine supports the Budapest Open Access Initiative, which was accepted on September 12, 2012.

· All articles published on JoPAR are licensed under "Creative Commons Citation 4.0 International License". This license; Gives the right to reproduce, share and disseminate all published articles, data sets, graphics, and annexes in data mining applications, search engines, websites, blogs, and all other platforms, provided that they provide the source. Open access is an approach that facilitates interdisciplinary communication and encourages different disciplines to work with each other.

· JoPAR is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/.

· Personal information such as name, ORCID, and e-mail addresses entered in the journal management system in the JoPAR journal will be used only for the scientific purposes of this journal and will not be shared with third parties.

· Archiving :Metadata and full texts of all articles published in the JoPAR Journal are stored in XML and .pdf format on a 3rd party cloud server in a closed way.

· Publishing processes implemented in the JoPAR form the basis for the development and distribution of information in a neutral and respected manner. The processes implemented in this direction are directly reflected in the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions supporting the authors. Reviewers are studies that embody and support the scientific method. At this point, all stakeholders of the process (authors, readers and researchers, publishers, referees and editors) must comply with the standards for ethical standards. Our journal is expected to have the following ethical responsibilities in the context of publication ethics.

·  The ethical guidelines and responsibilities of the JoPAR journal were developed in accordance with the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding open access. Details are provided in the link:  “Ethical Principles and Policies of JoPAR”

· As the author(s) of the article with the title above, we submit our article to the JoPAR for publication and we accept the following conditions:

·The financial rights on the article, especially the rights to the process, reproduce, represent, print, publish, distribute and transmit to the public via the internet, belong to JoPAR.

·The authors of the article certify that they qualify for authorship because of their substantial contribution to the work submitted.

· After the article is submitted to the journal for evaluation, at no stage can the name of the author be added to the article, removed or the order can be changed, except for the names of the authors and their order specified in the transfer form?

·The article is original. It has not been published in Türkiye/abroad, in Turkish/foreign language, or is not under evaluation for publication in another journal.

· All authors have seen and approved the final form of the submitted article.

· The copyrights of the text, figures, and documents in the article belonging to other persons have not been neglected.

·At any stage of the scientific evaluation process of the article, if necessary, the publication editor may request from the authors to change the journal and publication category to be published.

· The scientific, ethical, and legal responsibility of the article belongs to the authors.

·The authors undertake that the owner of the journal, the journal editor, and other editors are not responsible for any claims or lawsuits to be filed by third parties due to copyright infringement, and all responsibility belongs to the authors.

·The copyright of each article published in the JoPAR is reserved by the author(s) of the article under the Creative Commons  Copyright license, and this means that the original work can be copied, redistributed, rearranged, and in any non-commercial medium or format, provided that the original work is properly cited. It allows creating a new study by using the material in the study.

The copyright of the layout and design of the articles published in the JoPAR belongs to the journal and cannot be used in other publications. Details are provided in the link: “Copyright form”

Publishing Fees

No fee is charged from the author or institution under any name. Article submission and all other processes in the JoPAR are free of charge.
