Antigone’nin Kardeşlik Hakkı: Etik ve Politik Birlik Tahayyülü için Bir Giriş

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Sophokles’in Antigone adlı tragedyasını etik ve politik birlik bağlamında yeniden okumayı amaçlamaktadır. Antigone’nin eylemlerini yalnızca aile bağlarına indirgemek yerine, Antik Yunan’daki hane ve polis (devlet) arasındaki geçişkenliği sağlayan kardeşlik çerçevesinde inceleyecektir. Kardeşlik, sadece bir akrabalık ilişkisi değil, aynı zamanda etik ve politik sorumluluğun taşıyıcısı olarak ele alınacaktır. Antigone’nin eylemlerini de bireysel sadakat ve erkek egemen topluma isyan olarak ele almaktan ziyade, bu eylemlerin Antik Yunan’da hem hanedeki hem de polis’teki birliği amaçlayan değerlerin temsili olduğu ileri sürülecektir. Antigone’nin eylemlerini bu ikili yapı çerçevesinde değerlendiren çalışma, Antik Yunan’da hanenin ve kardeşlik hukukunun etik ve politik birlik inşasındaki rolünü ön plana çıkaracak ve böyle bir okumanın açabileceği yeni bağlamlara işaret edecektir.

Antigone's Right to Brotherhood: An Introduction to the Imagination of Ethical and Political Unity

Abstract

This study aims to reexamine Sophocles’ tragedy Antigone in the context of ethical and political unity. Rather than limiting Antigone’s actions solely to familial connections, this analysis will be conducted through the lens of brotherhood, which provides the transitivity between the household and the polis (state) in Ancient Greece. The brotherhood will be analyzed not only as a kinship but also as the custodian of ethical and political accountability. Rather than individual loyalty and rebellion against a male-dominated society, it will be argued that Antigone’s actions are a representation of the values that strive for cohesion within both the household and the polis in Ancient Greece. By evaluating Antigone’s actions within the framework of this dual structure, the study will foreground the role of the household and the law of brotherhood constructing ethical and political unity in Ancient Greece, while also highlighting new contexts that such a reading can open up.
