Karabük Journal of Turkology is a peer-reviewed and academic journal that addresses the field of Turkish language and literature with an interdisciplinary approach at national and international levels. Our primary aim is to contribute to the accumulation of scientific knowledge by publishing original and qualified academic research in the field of Turkology and to provide a platform for current discussions and theoretical developments. Our journal aims to publish methodologically sound studies written from various perspectives such as linguistics, literary theory, criticism, history, culture, and comparative studies. Furthermore, encouraging young researchers and academics and introducing new perspectives to the field are among the important objectives of our journal.
journal publishes original research articles, book reviews, critical editions, and occasionally compilations covering all historical and modern periods of Turkish language and literature. Our main publication scope consists of the following core disciplines and subfields:
• Old Turkish Literature (Divan Literature): Studies on text analyses, poet and author research, literary genres, verse forms, literary arts, and works related to cultural history belonging to the written literary tradition from the 13th to the 19th centuries.
• Modern Turkish Literature: Research containing criticism, history, theory, and textual analyses on modern Turkish literature developing from the Tanzimat period onwards; studies on novels, short stories, poetry, theatre, and criticism.
• Old Turkic Language: Studies on the linguistic features, text editions, lexicology, and language history of the Köktürk, Uyghur, Karakhanid, Khwarezm-Kipchak, and Old Anatolian Turkish periods.
• Modern Turkish Language: Research on the phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics, lexicology, and grammar of Modern Turkey Turkish (including Ottoman Turkish) and other contemporary Turkic dialects.
• Turkish Folk Literature: Compilation, analysis, and theoretical studies in the fields of anonymous folk literature products (epic, tale, legend, folk story, folk song, mani, lament, etc.), minstrel literature, and mystical folk literature.
• Contemporary Turkish Literature: Research encompassing literature produced in Turkey and among Turkic communities worldwide from the second half of the 20th century to the present, also including current critical approaches.
• Additionally, interdisciplinary studies intersecting with Turkish language and literature, such as comparative literature, cultural studies, critical theory, intertextuality, translation studies, and manuscripts (codicology/paleography), also fall within the scope of our journal.
