In accordance with the decisions made by the ULAKBİM TR Index, starting in 2020, "Ethics Committee Approval" must be obtained for research conducted in all scientific fields, including the Social Sciences. For studies requiring ethics committee approval, information regarding the approval (committee name, date, and issue number) must be included in the methods section and at the end of the article. When submitting your work to our journal, you must upload your ethics committee document along with your article file. If your work is not included in the working group requiring ethics committee approval, you must sign a declaration form stating this and indicate this in the text of your article.

Authors who produce publications falling within this scope and submit them to the Kayseri University Journal of Social Sciences must upload this permission to the system during their application and indicate it in their article. This information must be disclosed in the method section of the article and provided before the references as follows:

FAQ:

1) Q: Is ethics committee approval required for all articles?

     A: No. Research requiring ethics committee approval is as follows:

• Any research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches requiring data collection from participants using surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, experiments, or interview techniques,
• The use of humans and animals (including material/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
  
• Clinical research conducted on humans. Research conducted on animals,
  
• Retrospective studies in accordance with personal data protection laws,
  
• In case reports, it is necessary to state that an "informed consent form" has been obtained,
  
• Permission must be obtained and stated from the owners for the use of scales, surveys, and photographs belonging to others,
  
• Copyright regulations must be adhered to for the intellectual and artistic works used.

2) Q: Should retroactive ethics committee approval be obtained for publications based on studies and theses completed in previous years?

      A: Retroactive ethics committee approval is not required for articles using research data from before 2020, produced from master's/doctoral studies (must be stated in the article), submitted to  the journal the previous year, accepted, but not yet published.

3) Q: Are these TR Index rules restricting publications made outside universities?

      A: No. Researchers who are not affiliated with universities can also apply to the Ethics Committees in their region.
