Determination of Pre-Service Science and Technology Teachers’ Views on Environmetal Education
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the views of pre-service science and technology
teachers towards environmental education. 275 pre-service science and technology teachers at
3rd grade who had been studying at Karadeniz Technical University, Giresun University, Artvin
Çoruh University and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University constitute the sample of the study.
Open-ended survey technique was used to collect data and the descriptive analysis technique
was used for the analysis of the data. The results showed that environmental education was
a process which organized our behaviors towards environment and gave us information on
environment according to pre-service science and technology teachers. In addition, it is seen
that pre-service science and technology teachers gain some positive behaviors such as skimp,
and not to litter, their self-efficacy levels towards giving environmental education courses are
high.
