Urban
regeneration applications were first introduced in the 19th century in England
in the form of the demolition and reconstruction of the old buildings as a
result of urban growth. In those transformation projects, which have entered
into various forms over time, sustainable cities are created and not only
physical but also socio-economical and cultural dimensions of the transformation
are taken into consideration. In Turkey, the city's urban transformation
process of industrialization results in an increased internal migration crooked,
the formation of slums result of improper planning has emerged. With the Law of
Urban Transformation numbered 6306, which entered into force in 2012, this
transformation was made only considering the physical transformation. The aim
of this study is where transformation is required; by taking the ideas of the
people living in the region, to protect the historical texture, to contribute
for creating cities compatible with nature, culture and environment. In the
study, it is presented the proposals of creating a city, which is a slum town in
Üsküdar and one of the historical centers of Istanbul city, and which has to
create sustainable living concept considering the sociological structure of the
Roman people. How can we achieve a happy neighborhood by meeting the
expectations of the people by preserving the historical structure of Selamsız
with the researches carried out in edible cities around the world? In this
study, the answer to this question was sought.
