Anadolu University Faculty of Communication Sciences Journal (Kurgu) Evaluation Process
Anadolu University Journal of the Faculty of Communication Sciences (Kurgu) is published twice a year, in May and November, electronically. The articles to be published are published collectively in issues with a table of contents. The evaluation process of the journal is carried out transparently in accordance with scientific and ethical standards. The evaluation process consists of the following steps:
1. Submission of the Article
Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the spelling rules and format file (see the article template that can be downloaded from Dergipark) of Anadolu University Journal of Communication Sciences Faculty (Kurgu) and uploaded to the online system of the journal. Articles are not accepted from any platform other than Dergipark. Authors are required to prepare their articles using the article template provided by the journal. During manuscript submission, a similarity report obtained from Turnitin similarity screening tools must also be uploaded. Manuscripts with similarity rates exceeding 15% will be returned to the author without form review. For the process of how to perform similarity screening, the Similarity Screening tab from the menu should be examined.
2. Formal Review (7 Days)
The articles uploaded to the journal system are firstly examined by the assistant editors in terms of form. In this review, issues such as compliance with spelling rules, bibliography layout, formal accuracy of tables and figures are reviewed. Manuscripts that pass the figure review are forwarded to the editor. This process takes a maximum of 7 days. This period may vary due to intensity.
3. Editorial Review (14 Days)
The editor will examine the scientific content of the article, its suitability for the purpose and scope of the journal, and whether it complies with ethical standards. The eligible articles are forwarded to referees who are experts in the relevant field. This process is completed within 14 days at the latest. Articles deemed unsuitable by the editor are returned to the author with a reasoned feedback.
4. Referee Evaluation Process (1-3 Months)
The eligible manuscripts are sent to at least two referees who are experts in their fields. Referee evaluation is carried out by blind refereeing method; referees and authors do not know each other's identities. If one of the referees gives a negative opinion, the article is sent to a third referee at the discretion of the Editor. Final evaluations are made by the Editor in accordance with the decision of the third referee. The evaluation process of the referees can take 1 to 3 months depending on the structure of the article and the speed of the referees' return. This period can also be extended upon the request of the referees.
5. Referee Reports and Feedback to the Author
In line with the referee reports, the author/authors are notified that the article is accepted, requires correction or rejected. Manuscripts requiring correction are requested to be edited in accordance with the referee reports and re-uploaded to the system within the specified period. This period is announced to the author/authors on the Dergipark screen.
6. Correction and Final Evaluation
The corrections made by the author may be submitted to the referee review again or the final decision may be made by the editor directly. In case of insufficient corrections, the article may be rejected; this process is decided by the Editor. In case of a favourable opinion from two referees in line with the referee reports, the article is accepted for publication in the nearest issue suitable for publication. Final arrangements are made for the articles that have been decided for publication and sent to the authors for final checks before printing.
7. Similarity Screening and Ethical Compliance
Each article accepted for publication is checked by the Editor for a second time with the Turnitin similarity scanning tool. Articles with similarity rates exceeding 15% will be returned to the authors and asked to be reorganised before being taken into editorial evaluation. Detected cases of plagiarism or unethical situations are examined in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and the article is removed from the process if necessary. In this process, a process for justification is initiated, if necessary, by providing feedback to the authors.
8. Publication Decision and Duration
From the submission of an article to Anadolu University Journal of the Faculty of Communication Sciences (Kurgu), the publication decision process takes approximately 2.5 to 4.5 months from the date of submission. This period may vary depending on the turnaround time of the referees, the speed of corrections by the authors and additional reviews.
9. Post-Publication Communication
Feedback and objections to published articles should be submitted via the journal's online system. Authors' questions, suggestions, and criticisms regarding their post-publication manuscripts are evaluated by the editors and, if necessary, correction or withdrawal processes may be initiated. Corrections are processed by contacting the Editorial Office through a petition stating the justification. If deemed necessary, if the reviews made by the Editorial Board are positive, the corrections are published in the next publication together with the correction notification. Additional referee evaluations may be required when deemed necessary for the transparency of the process.
