Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Language and Technology is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, academic integrity, and transparency throughout the editorial and publication processes. The journal follows internationally recognized ethical guidelines to ensure the quality, originality, and reliability of the research it publishes. Authors, reviewers, editors, and all parties involved in the publication process are expected to adhere to the following ethical principles and responsibilities.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to Language and Technology are expected to uphold the principles of academic honesty, originality, and ethical research conduct.

  • All authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is their own original work and has not been plagiarized, fabricated, or falsified.

  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and authenticity of the content presented in their manuscripts.

  • All authors listed on a manuscript should have made a significant academic contribution to the study and share responsibility for the content of the paper.

  • The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and consent to its submission and publication.

  • Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not be under consideration by another journal or publication simultaneously.

  • Authors must not submit work that has been previously published in whole or in substantial part elsewhere.

  • Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite all relevant publications and sources appropriately in accordance with academic standards and APA referencing guidelines.

  • Authors conducting research involving human participants or sensitive data must obtain formal ethical approval from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board when required. Documentation related to ethical approval should be made available upon request.

  • Authors are expected to comply with ethical principles regarding participant consent, confidentiality, privacy, and data protection.

  • Where applicable, authors should provide access to datasets, research materials, or supplementary information necessary to support the transparency and reproducibility of the study.

  • Authors must declare any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation or presentation of the research.

  • All sources of financial support, funding, or sponsorship related to the research must be clearly acknowledged.

  • The journal reserves the right to screen all submissions using plagiarism detection software during the review and publication processes. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, unethical borrowing, or other forms of academic misconduct will be rejected.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play a vital role in maintaining the academic quality, integrity, and objectivity of the journal’s peer-review process.

  • Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts fairly, objectively, and professionally, without discrimination based on nationality, gender, institutional affiliation, personal beliefs, or other non-academic factors.

  • Reviewers should provide constructive, clear, and academically grounded feedback to help authors improve their manuscripts.

  • Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all submitted manuscripts and should not share, discuss, or use any information obtained during the review process for personal or professional advantage.

  • Reviewers should declare any potential conflicts of interest that may affect their ability to review a manuscript impartially.

  • Reviewers are expected to complete their evaluations within the specified review period and make reasonable efforts to submit their reports and recommendations in a timely manner.

  • Reviewers should inform the editors if they identify significant similarities, overlap, plagiarism, or ethical concerns related to the manuscript under consideration.

  • Reviewers should avoid evaluating manuscripts for which they feel unqualified or unable to provide an objective assessment.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, transparent, timely, and ethical editorial and peer-review process.

  • Editors must evaluate submitted manuscripts based solely on their academic merit, originality, clarity, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to the field.

  • Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts and information related to the peer-review and publication processes.

  • Editors should ensure that all manuscripts undergo an unbiased and appropriate double-blind peer-review process.

  • Editors are responsible for selecting qualified reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area of the manuscript.

  • Editors should make every effort to process manuscripts efficiently and communicate editorial decisions in a timely manner.

  • Editors must avoid conflicts of interest and should not be involved in decisions regarding manuscripts in which they have a personal, academic, or professional interest.

  • When a manuscript is submitted by a member of the editorial board or editorial team, the responsibility for the review and editorial decision-making processes must be delegated to an independent editor to ensure impartiality and transparency.

  • Editors should take appropriate action when ethical concerns, complaints, or allegations of misconduct arise, including investigation, correction, retraction, or other necessary measures when appropriate.

Publication Ethics and Integrity

Language and Technology is committed to preserving the integrity of the academic record and promoting ethical scholarly communication. The journal encourages transparency, accountability, originality, and respect for intellectual property throughout all stages of publication.

Any form of plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or unethical research conduct is strictly prohibited. Cases of suspected misconduct will be handled in accordance with accepted international publication ethics guidelines and may result in rejection, retraction, or notification to relevant institutions where necessary.
