Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Publication Policy
LOKUM aims to support the development of academic publishing in an impartial and respectable manner. In this context, authors, readers, researchers, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members have to meet the standards required by ethical principles, and all stakeholders are expected to have ethical responsibilities. LOKUM is committed to adopting the principles published by the "Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)" as open access in ethical duties and responsibilities.
Open Access Policy
Author(s) retain the copyright of their papers without restrictions, but they are responsible for the content of their article published in the journal. Author(s) also grant LOKUM non-exclusive first publishing rights to publish their articles. Author(s) confirm that their articles' content does not bind the owner, editor, co-editors, or advisory board members of LOKUM. Author(s) declare that their articles are original and have not been published previously or are not under consideration of publication elsewhere. LOKUM is an open-access journal and it provides free and unlimited access to the articles that it publishes without any form of restriction, subscription, or requirement. Based on its open-access policy, the journal allows readers to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of its articles and allow readers to use them for any other lawful purpose. Thus, LOKUM lets researchers remix, adapt, and build upon the articles published on its website non-commercially, as long as they credit LOKUM and license their new work under identical terms. Because of its open-access policy, LOKUM does not allow others to commercially share the articles that it publishes. It is not possible to quote from the published article without showing the source.

Ethical Principles
The editorial board is free to publish or not publish the submitted article. The published article of the author(s) can be removed from publication, if deemed necessary, in line with the decision of the editorial board. Articles that crippling national unity and solidarity, discriminating people, and inciting hatred are not accepted. No royalties are paid to the author(s).
"Ethics Committee Approval" is requested for articles published in all branches of science, including social sciences, upon the change made in TR Index Journal Evaluation Criteria for the year 2020. Studies that require the approval of the Ethics Committee are as follows:
1. All kinds of research carried out with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from the participants by using survey, interview, focus group work, observation, experiment, interview techniques,
2. The use of humans and animals (including material/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
3. Clinical studies on humans,
4. Animal studies,
5. Retrospective studies in accordance with the law on the protection of personal data,
In accordance with this decision, "Ethics Committee Approval" must be obtained in all studies submitted to our journal and included in this scope, and the "approval letter" must be submitted to the journal together with the article.
Artificial Intelligence Policy
LOKUM Journal of Art and Design follows COPE guidelines on the use of 'artificial intelligence (AI)' in the context of scientific publications. In this context, human authors are expected to create all content in the articles submitted to journal. Human authors are required to comply with the following points and undertake that they comply with these rules with the additional document which they will declare at the time of article submission.
1. Artificial intelligence (AI) cannot be listed as an author, nor can it be presented as an author in any article.
2. If authors use artificial intelligence (AI) in the article writing process, they must describe in detail the tasks performed by artificial intelligence (AI) in the research process and prove their accuracy.
3. In the context of scientific research and publication ethics, transparency of the research process should be taken into account, and documents related to the use of artificial intelligence should be submitted upon request.
4. Regardless of the preparation process; the human author is legally, ethically, morally and intellectually responsible for all content produced, citation of sources in accordance with ethical principles, opinions and information in the content presented.
5. LOKUM Journal of Art and Design is not responsible for disputes arising from the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
