EVALUATION PROCESS
Lycus conducts its evaluation process in accordance with national and international ethical principles of scholarly publishing, using a double-blind peer review system. The stages of this process are outlined below:
1. Preliminary Review (Editorial Control)
Manuscripts submitted to the Lycus are first evaluated by the editor or field editors. At this stage, the manuscripts are reviewed for their relevance to the aims and scope of the journal, academic quality, language and expression, and technical format. In addition, a similarity check is performed. Manuscripts with a similarity rate exceeding 20% in plagiarism detection software are rejected or returned for revision. Manuscripts that fail to pass this stage are returned to the author(s) with the reasons for rejection.
2. Peer Review Process
Articles submitted to Lycus that pass the preliminary review by the editor or section editor are sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The evaluation process is conducted according to the double-blind peer review principle; the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editor makes one of the following decisions: acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. In cases where the reviewers’ opinions conflict, the editor/editorial board may either make a direct decision by taking the content of the reports into account or, if deemed necessary, send the manuscript to a third reviewer. Book reviews and review essays, on the other hand, are evaluated by the editor or the editorial board; where necessary, reviewer opinions may also be sought for such submissions.
3. Revision and Re-Evaluation
Manuscripts requiring revision according to the reviewers’ comments must be revised by the author(s) and resubmitted through the system. Authors are expected to provide a detailed Response to Reviewers Form explaining the changes made. If deemed necessary, the revised version may be sent back to the reviewers for further evaluation.
4. Final Decision and Publication Process
Once the review of the revised manuscript is complete, the final decision is made by the responsible editor or field editor. Accepted manuscripts undergo final proofreading, typesetting, and language editing. A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) number is then assigned, and the article is published electronically.
5. Process Tracking and Transparency
All evaluation procedures in the Lycus are managed through the DergiPark system, and authors are regularly informed about the status of their submissions. The average time from submission to publication decision ranges between 8 to 12 weeks.
