The Relationship Between Learned Resourcefulness and Locus of Control of High School Students
Abstract
In this research, it is to determine the relationship between learned resourcefulness and
locus of control of high school students.
The population comprises the students of 10 th and 11 th classes of private and state
schools educating in the Anatolian side of İstanbul in the academic year of 2006-2007. 337
students from these schools were determined by randomly. 161 of them are females, 176
of them are males.
The questionnaire which is developed by the researcher to collect information about
sociodemographic features of the students, ‘Rotter’s İnternal-External Locus of Control
Scale’, Rosenbaum’s Learned Resourcefullness’ are used as the type of this survey study.
The results of this study show that there is significant correlation between learned
resourcefullness of the high school students and their locus of control. Also, the learned
resourcefullness scores of the female students are higher than the male students’; the learned
resourcefullness scores of the students of the public schools are higher than significantly
private school’.
