The Effect of Computer Aided Instruction with Simulation on Student Achievement
Abstract
Computers are very important means which have been used commonly. Computer
aided instruction, is a method, easily be used in self-learning some principles by computers.
Computer aided instruction is also a method which strengths and improves learning period
and motivation of students.
The aim of this research is to able use computers as a mean in education-instruction especially physic instruction functionally. A subject called “Motion in one Dimension” which can be count not easy to teach has been chosen to be instructed with the computer aid. To complete to research, 222 students who are candidates teacher in Education Faculty have been chosen as a model. To check their level on “ Motion in one Dimension “, a pre-test including some questions has been given to check how much knowledge they have. At the second stage of this research, the class consisting 40 students divided into two parts as a working and controls groups. It has also been very important to classify them according to their knowledge given in high school period. This is so necessary to create homogeneous classes. Classical (instruction) teaching method like dramatisation, discussing has been chosen in simulation type. After that, two different groups have been given a test to define how much they learned. The results of this test have been created by using statistical method and z-test technique. Moreover, the questions they answered in midterm on “Motion in one Dimension” have been check to evaluate. And this has been shown in our research. In evaluation results, what we observed is that “working group students” has better ability to define the subject “Motion in one Dimension” because of computer aided method. And their comets are more reasonable than controlling groups.
This result has also been supported with the results of test given at the end of
instruction period. It has been observed that the rate of success of working groups is more
than controlling groups.
Key words: Computer, simulation, motion one dimension
