TELEVISION WATCHING PROFILE OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (10-14 YEAR OLD) CHILDREN
Abstract
Aim of the study is to describe 10-14 years old students’ television
watching profile. A survey which consists of 44 questions was applied to 442
students in a state school to find out their television watching profile.
At homes children generally have more than one (1,7) television, and
families usually use living room for watching. Children mostly watch television
at 5 pm to 8 pm. So we conclude that in those hours their parents are at home
and children watch television with them. By this data we believe that watching
television is a family event and so children’s television watching profile also
reflecting families’ profile. Almost one of third (%29,9) of children addicted to
television while half of children watch three hours a day. There is a big difference
according to children, between what they watch and what they should do
