Focus and Scope:

Mizanu’l-Haqq: Journal of Islamic Studies (MIZAN) is a double blind peer-reviewed international journal published by the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University, İzmir, Turkey.
The Journal publishes scholarly papers in the fields of religion in general, Islam in particular twice a year, in December and June.
MIZAN welcomes submissions for publication of original research papers, translations, reviews (for books, articles, thesis, projects, symposiums and conferences), critical textual studies, simplified reports and the like.
Scholarly papers written in languages other than Turkish ones may also be published in accordance with MIZAN's internationalization strategy.
The main objective of MIZAN is to provide an intellectual platform for the scholars of religion and of Islam to share their research with the scientific milieu. It is expected that the manuscripts submitted for publication make scholarly contribution to religious and Islamic studies, address practical as well as theoretical issues preparing the ground for discussing the religious problems that individuals and communities face, and put forward a set of proposals for consideration and exchange of ideas.

Principles of Publication:

• Mizanu’l-Haqq: Journal of Islamic Studies is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published twice a year in June and December by the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University, İzmir, Turkey.
• The short title of the journal is MIZAN.
• The scientific evaluation of the works submitted to MIZAN is made on the basis of a double-blind peer review principle. For this reason, the names of the referees are not published in the journal. In addition, it is important for authors and referees to arrange the documents they work on confidential so that they do not reveal their identities.
• MIZAN accepts submission of manuscripts in all areas of religious sciences (Social and Humanities / Religion), Islamic sciences in particular. In addition, the articles on Middle East Studies, Ottoman Studies, Values/Character Education, and the like may also be published as long as they are related to religious studies in some way.
• MIZAN welcomes original research papers, translations, reviews (for books, articles, thesis, projects, symposiums and conferences), critical textual studies, simplified reports and the like as long as they contribute to their area of research.
• Manuscripts submitted to MIZAN should have been neither submitted nor published elsewhere.
• Scientific and ethical responsibilities of the works submitted to Mizanu’l-Haqq: Journal of Islamic Studies belong to their authors and their copyrights belong to MIZAN. Authors are responsible for the content of their articles and for the accuracy of sources. Authors should send signed the approval document (Publication Rights Transfer Form), indicating that the publishing rights have been transferred, with their manuscripts.
• All the opinions contained in the manuscripts published in our journal belong to their authors; they do not reflect the views of İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University and any of its subunits and employees.
• The publication language of Mizanu’l-Haqq: Journal of Islamic Studies is Turkish. In accordance with MIZAN’s internationalization strategy the submission of Arabic and English manuscripts may be accepted. The works written in different languages apart from these ones may also be evaluated if they are in compliance with MIZAN’s Publication Principles and its Guideliness.
• In Turkish manuscripts, the authors should use current Turkish Dictionary and Turkish Writing Guide published by the Turkish Language Association as basic reference books.
• All persons and organizations that support and contribute to the work should be declared on a footnote on the first page of the article. If there is a permission and approval taken to conduct research the consent document needs to be attached to the paper submitted.
• Royalty is not paid to the authors and referees for the works processed and published in the journal. Two copies of MIZAN’s that issue is presented to each author and referee.

Author Guideliness:

• Mizanu’l-Haqq: Journal of Islamic Studies requires that the manuscripts are prepared for submission using the notes and bibliography system of the sixteenth edition of The Isnad 2 (Author-title system). Further information and samples can be found in the web page of Isnad: https://www.isnadsistemi.org/en/
• Arabic and Ottoman Turkish transcription in the manuscripts should follow the spelling rules used in TDV Encyclopedia of Islam.
• The paper format for the final submission should conform to the following specifications: A4 page layout size in Microsoft Office Word, top: 3.5 cm, left: 3.5 cm, bottom: 3 cm, right: 3 cm; typeface Times New Roman (Body: 12, footnote 10 points); Line spacing: Full; Value: 14 pt; Paragraph spacing: before: 0 pt after 3 pt; in Arabic texts Traditional Arabic font should be used. Text should be organized as justified.
• The abstracts both in Turkish and English should take place before the body of the text; if the manuscript is in a different language rather than these two, an abstract in the original language of the text should be added along with the other two. It is expected that the abstracts should clearly state the objective, methodology/approach, principal findings, originality/value of the research; and each abstract should be between 100-150 words. The title of the article, the abstract and the keywords after it should be written in the language of the body of the text in Times New Roman 10 point, and not more than 5 words.
• The manuscripts submitted for publication should not exceed 10000 words including footnotes and bibliography. In case of excess of the limit, the Editorial Board gives the final decision.
• If there is any table, graphics, pictures and the like in the manuscripts, the width of the layout of objects should be set around 12 cm, and each numbered.
• A copy of original texts should be added at the submission of translation, simplification, and transcription.
• The authors are required to present a letter of permission for previously published copyrighted text, tables, and graphics from the copyright owner if relevant. In addition, if there are any permission/approval already received from an ethics committee or other institution, a copy of permission/approval letter should also be added at the submission. The applicant has full responsibility for these issues.
• At the covers of the manuscripts the authors are expected to give information about themselves such as their names, surnames, titles, names of the institutions they work, if any, telephone numbers, postal and e-mail addresses. This information and any notes implying the identity of the authors should not take place in the abstract and in the text itself.
• The manuscripts may be sent to the editor by terrestrial mail or the Internet.
• A preliminary examination of the papers submitted to Mizanu’l-Haqq: Journal of Islamic Studies is made by the editor. Later the Editorial Board decide whether the manuscripts meet the requirements; if so, the Board assigns two referees within the relevant fields for double-blind reviewing. The works deemed appropriate in the assessment made by the Editorial Board is sent to two referees. Having considered the reports of the referees the Board gives the final decision on the publication of the manuscripts.
• The copyright owner of of the materials published by MIZAN is Mizanu’l-Haqq: Journal of Islamic Studies.
