Aim and Scope
MSFAU Academy Journal is a national peer-reviewed journal that aims to contribute to the production of academic and scientific knowledge, promote interdisciplinary interaction, disseminate knowledge at both national and international levels, and provide a foundation for new research. Published by the Graduate School of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University as of 2025, the journal is the continuation of the MSFAU Social Sciences Journal, which commenced publication in 2010.
The MSFAU Social Sciences Journal has been indexed by ULAKBİM TR Dizin since 2018 and accepted articles from all fields of the Humanities and Social Sciences. MSFAU Academy Journal will accept academic studies in the fields of Social, Humanities, and Administrative Sciences; Natural Sciences and Mathematics; Fine Arts; and Architecture, Planning, and Design. Our journal is indexed in the TÜBİTAK-ULAKBİM TR Dizin database under the category of Social, Humanities, and Administrative Sciences. The indexing processes for the other fields are ongoing.
As an academic platform that upholds the open access and circulation of knowledge, MSFAU Academy Journal is committed to adhering to international open access principles and, similarly, to implementing international publication ethics guidelines, particularly in its peer review processes.

Writing Guidelines
1. Manuscripts should be prepared using Windows Word, in Times or Times New Roman font, 12-point size, with 1.5 line spacing.
2. The length of the manuscripts should not exceed eight thousand words.
3. Titles should be written in bold, left-aligned, and with the first letter of each word capitalized.
4. Author names should be written in bold, right-aligned, and placed below the title. The author’s surname should be in uppercase letters. The author’s title, department, institution, and e-mail address should be provided as a footnote at the end of the author’s name. As of 2019, all authors are required to have an ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) number, which must be included in the author information footnote. (These details are requested from the author after the peer review process is completed. The initial version of the manuscript submitted via DergiPark should not contain any personal information and should be uploaded as a Word document.)
5. For original articles in Turkish, a summary of no more than 150 words should be provided under the heading “Öz.” All articles must also include an English summary under the heading “Abstract.” The Turkish and English titles of the article should be given first, followed by the Turkish summary and 3 to 5 keywords. Below these, the English abstract and keywords should be included. Summaries and keywords must comply with international standards.
6. Footnotes should be used only to provide additional information, not for citation purposes. Footnotes should be numbered at the bottom of the page, written in 10-point font with single line spacing.
7. Direct quotations exceeding 40 words in the text should be presented as “block quotations” in a separate paragraph from the main text. Block quotations should be indented 1.25 cm from both the left and right margins, written in 11-point font, and the source should be cited in parentheses at the end of the quotation.
8. If figures, tables, images, etc. are to be used in the text, they should be inserted in the relevant place with one line space above and below. Visuals should be prepared digitally whenever possible; if scanned, they must be at least 600 dpi resolution and inserted into the text in “tiff” or “jpg” format. Images should be numbered consecutively. Each image should have a brief caption with its number, centered below the image.
9. For in-text citations and references, the rules specified in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA, 2020) should be followed (except for the citation of ancient sources).
10. Examples of in-text citation and bibliography in accordance with APA, as well as examples for citing ancient sources, are provided below.
11. Appendices should be placed after the references section, each on a separate page.

• If the author’s name is not mentioned in the text, the author’s surname, the publication year, and the page number are given in parentheses, separated by commas, after the quotation.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
Publication Ethics
MSFAU Academy Journal adopts the “Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors” and the “Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers” of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in order to ensure ethical assurance in scientific periodical publishing.
In accordance with TR Dizin criteria, MSFAU Academy Journal adheres to international standards. All editors of the journal ensure that each research study has been approved by the relevant boards and commissions prior to the research, and the field editor may request the necessary documents from the author.
Notes for Reviewers
1. Reviewers should consider the “International Ethical Standards” of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in line with the guidance of TR Dizin during the evaluation process.
2. Reviewers have the right to request ethical committee approval from the author for research in all scientific fields that require such approval, to ensure that this approval is stated in the relevant sections of the article, and to request that the relevant documents be submitted to the journal. Reviewers should also ensure that this process is managed by the editor.
3. For research requiring ethical committee approval, information regarding the approval must be included in the article.
4. If the criteria of the Committee on Publication Ethics are not met by the authors, reviewers have the right to request the withdrawal of the manuscript from publication, even if it has previously been approved.
5. Reviewers must ensure that copyright regulations have been observed for intellectual and artistic works used in the research and included in the article. They have the right to request all necessary documents or explanations from the authors to ensure compliance.
6. Reviewers are obliged to maintain confidentiality with the author and editor during and after the article evaluation and publication process. Reviewers are responsible for any breaches of confidentiality not caused by the author or editor. In such cases, the editor reserves the right to remove the reviewer from duty.
Notes for Authors
1. Authors are obliged to comply with the international standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics for authors.
2. Authors must obtain ethical committee approval for research in all scientific fields that require such approval, indicate this approval in the article, and submit documentation to the journal editor. Authors are required to fulfill any requests from editors and reviewers regarding these approvals. Otherwise, the editor reserves the right to withdraw the article from publication.

Publication Policy
1. MSFAU Academy Journal is a national peer-reviewed journal published twice a year.
2. Manuscripts submitted for publication must be original, scientific articles, research papers, reviews, translations, book reviews/critiques, or interviews that contribute to the field and must not have been published previously.
3. Submissions to the journal must be in Turkish or English.
4. Manuscripts are sent to reviewers after preliminary evaluation by field editors. A double-blind peer review process is applied during the evaluation.
5. In accordance with the journal’s publication principles, the similarity rate of manuscripts uploaded via DergiPark is determined using the iThenticate programme at the time of submission. In order for a manuscript to be considered for review, the similarity rate must not exceed 20%. Manuscripts with a similarity rate of 20% or higher are directly rejected and not sent for peer review. If the condition is met, the manuscripts are forwarded to reviewers.
6. In cases of scientific misconduct, conflict of interest, or copyright infringement during the evaluation process, the international ethical principles set by the Committee on Publication Ethics are applied.
7. MSFAU Academy Journal adheres to international open access principles to ensure that academic knowledge provides social benefit. Articles published in the journal after peer review may be used within the framework of international open access definitions.
8. All authors of articles published in the journal are deemed to have accepted the open access conditions.
9. Studies that pass the preliminary review and similarity check are evaluated by the relevant field editor in terms of subject, scope, language, and academic adequacy. Field editors assume the editorial ethical responsibilities defined for editors from the acceptance of the article to the publication of the issue.
10. The APA 7 reference system must be used in manuscripts submitted to the journal.
11. The scientific responsibility for articles published in the journal belongs to the authors.
12. Regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence, the principles stated in the “Ethical Guidelines for the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research and Publication Activities in Higher Education Institutions” must be followed.
