Abstract
Social scientist in Turkey limited the begining of Turkish history with different periods. For example Anatolian group started Turkish history with the Islamization of Anatolia. On the other hand Turkish/Turanist group opposed this thesis and defended Central Asian Turkish thesis.
With this study the Turkish historical understandings of Nurettin Topçu who has conservative Anatolian opinion and Orhan Türkdoğan who is defined as a Turkish/Turanist group in Turkish sociologist will be examined. The purpose of this article is to compare Topçu’s and Türkdoğan’s historical understandings. This studying is a descreptive survey.
With the influence of the Anatolian group Topçu started the history of Turks with war of Malazgirt in 1071. For this process he gave importance to Turkish tribes coming from Central Asia, the Islam carried by the Turkish tribes to Anatolia and the agricultural technique in herited from Eti people of Anatolia.
Türkdoğan who has been influenced by Turkish/Turanist group opposed Topçu’s historical understandings. Türkdoğan defended the Asian historic thesis of Kemalizm. He began Turkish history with the Central Asia Turkish government.
