The main purpose of the study was to analyse the organisational structure of military censorship that the 3rd Army enforced on communications on the Caucasian Front during the First World War. In this sense, the study examined the censorship organisation of the 3rd Army and analysed the inspections and limitations in the communications field. Likewise, it discussed the alterations made in the censorship regime on the Caucasian Front and modelled the failing points of these applications. In this way, this study would provide a beneficial instrument to understand the military censorship during the First World War and contribute to the studies facilitating understanding of the period.
Censorship was one of the new military procedures of the Great War. The reason is that all the security-related institutions of the states took action to prevent information leak-out during the war. In this sense, armies of all the states tried to avoid information leak-out by bringing their means of communications under control. The Ottoman Government also started to enforce military censorship on communications from 2 August 1914 within the scope of mobilisation practices. Moreover, a Censorship Regulation consisting of 61 articles was published to form censorship centres in the armies and army corps in various centres. Censorship centres consisting of two or three officials were established in the 3rd Army region on the Caucasian Front. Letters and telegraphs written in Turkish and other languages were censored in these centres.
The study basically benefited from the data of the Directorate of State Archives of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, the Military History Archive of the Ministry of National Defence, the ATASE Fund, and the Ottoman Archive.

Çalışmanın temel amacı I. Dünya Savaşı sırasında Kafkas Cephesi’nde III.
Sansür, I. Dünya Savaşı’nın yeni askerî yöntemlerinden biriydi.
