Ethical Principles
It is expected that manuscripts submitted to the Journal of OTAM be original and scientific, providing a contribution to the existing literature. In addition to original research and review articles, the journal includes translations, document publications, news, obituaries, and book reviews. Authors submitting their work to the Journal of Ottoman History Research and Application Center (OTAM) are required to meet the ethical principles specified below.
Originality and Authors' Responsibility: The responsibility for the compliance of articles with scientific and ethical rules rests with the authors. The submitted work must belong entirely to its authors. If the works of other researchers are included within the article, they must be appropriately cited and listed in the references section. The author must provide an assurance that the article is original, has not been previously published elsewhere, and is not under consideration for publication in another language or venue. Applicable copyright laws and agreements must be observed. Copyrighted materials (e.g., tables, figures, maps) must be used with the necessary permissions and acknowledgments. The works of other authors or contributors and the sources utilized must be used appropriately and cited in the references.
Resubmission of a Published Publication: Authors are expected to submit works to OTAM that have not been published before. It is unacceptable for a study to be submitted to another journal simultaneously with OTAM.
Presentation and Retention of Raw Data: Authors are required to present the raw data of their research when requested by the editor or reviewers and must retain this data after their articles have been published.
Detection of Errors in Published Articles: When an author identifies a significant error or inaccuracy in their article published in OTAM, they are obliged to immediately notify the journal editor and cooperate with the editor to withdraw or correct the manuscript.
