Abstract

Dünya genelinde firmalar çevresel, sosyal ve yönetişim (ESG) faktörlerini güçlendirmekte ve bu doğrultuda kurumsal stratejilerine yeniden bir yön kazandırmaktadır. Çevresel, sosyal ve yönetişim faktörlerinin firmalar tarafından dikkate alınması firma çıkarlarını maksimuma ulaştırma ve sosyal fayda sağlama gibi katkılar sağlamaktadır. Yeni bir kavram olan ESG ile firma performansı arasındaki bibliyometrik yapının anlaşılması, kavramın zaman içinde gelişimini sürdürebilmesi açısından önemlidir. Çalışmada, ESG ile firma performansının mevcut durumunu ve gelecekteki yönelimlerini belirlemek, çalışmaların örtüştüğü noktaları ve araştırılmayı bekleyen alanları keşfetmek hedeflenmiştir. ESG ve firma performansını konu eden çalışmaların yayın ve atıf trendleri, etkileşimler ve anahtar kavramlar üzerinden bibliyometrik bir analiz yapılmıştır. Çalışmada, 2015 ile 2025 yılları arasındaki dönemi kapsayan Web of Science (Wos) veri tabanından alınan 110 yayının verisi üzerinden analiz gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma, ESG ve firma performansı birleşimindeki mevcut literatüre sistematik bir bakış sunarak, bu alandaki akademik tartışmalara ek bir katkı sunmakta ve gelecekte yapılacak araştırmalar için temel bir çerçeve olarak kullanılacak öneriler sağlamaktadır.

Bibliographic Analysis of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and Company Performance: The Web of Science Example

Abstract

Companies worldwide are strengthening environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors and, in this direction, are giving their corporate strategies a renewed direction. Environmental, social, and governance factors contribute to maximizing corporate interests and generating social benefits when considered by companies. Understanding the bibliometric structure between the new concept of ESG and company performance is important for the concept to continue to evolve over time. The study aims to determine the current status and future trends of ESG and company performance, identify areas of overlap between studies, and discover areas awaiting research. A bibliometric analysis was conducted on studies addressing ESG and company performance, examining publication and citation trends, interactions, and key concepts. The study analyzed data from 110 publications retrieved from the Web of Science (Wos) database covering the period between 2015 and 2025. The study provides a systematic overview of the existing literature on the combination of ESG and company performance, contributing to the academic debate in this field and offering recommendations that will serve as a fundamental framework for future research.
