Each manuscript submitted to the Journal of Values in Health Sciences via the online system is initially subject to a preliminary evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief or the relevant Section Editors to assess compliance with the author guidelines and publication policies. Manuscripts deemed suitable are forwarded to the peer review process, while those found incomplete or non-compliant are returned to the author for revision.
Manuscripts that pass editorial approval are sent to two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The evaluation process is conducted in accordance with the double-blind peer review principle, meaning that the identities of both the authors and reviewers are kept confidential from each other.
Reviewers are expected to complete their evaluations within 15 days of receiving the manuscript. If a review is not submitted within the specified time, a new reviewer is assigned.
Manuscripts that receive two positive review reports are accepted for publication. In cases where one report is positive and the other negative, the manuscript is sent to a third reviewer, and the final decision on publication is based on either the third reviewer’s opinion or the discretion of the editor.
Authors are given a maximum of 15 days to complete any requested revisions. Editors reserve the right to make a direct decision on the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript when deemed necessary.
The average duration of the manuscript evaluation process, from submission to publication, is approximately 4 to 5 months. All stages of the process are conducted electronically.
